Episode 13: Sailing out onto open water

19th June, 2019

We’re almost there! In this episode, Spirit of Discovery leaves the Meyer Werft shipyard to travel overnight up the River Ems and out to the open sea. She’s been four years in the making and there’s still a lot of work to do, but in just a few days she’ll be in full sea trials. After that it’s full steam ahead to Dover, arriving on June 28 before her naming ceremony on July 5 and her maiden voyage – A British First – just five days later.
