Spirit of Discovery blog

Haugesund

31st July, 2019

Bit of an early start for the Captain this morning as we picked up our pilot at 3:45am. A quick snooze and then back on the bridge for arrival at 6:30am. We made our approaching into the fjord entrance and proceeded towards our berth in Haugesund where we turned on arrival and went starboard side alongside.

Quite a new port for us in Norway and of course the first time the Spirit of Discovery has been here – and what does that mean – Plaque Ceremony!! This was done at 11am and it was a pleasure to welcome onboard the delegates.

Many guests on tour today and the gangway was busy, tours going to the mighty Langfoss waterfall, Skudeneshavn tour or even a tour round Haugesund to name but a few. After having lunch in the lovely Grill on Deck 12 it was time to do some paperwork – an ever important part of a Captain’s daily routine!!

4:30pm and all aboard and with all our guests onboard it was time to leave, with Staff Captain Matt executing a good departure!!

Dinner with friends tonight and a great chance to catch up with everyone in the South Cape Bar before – looking forward to that.

Next stop – Kristiansand – one of Norway’s finest…
