Spirit of Discovery blog

St Peter Port, Guernsey

24th July, 2019

Well what a beautiful day here in Guernsey, clear blue skies and sunshine and already 20 Celsius. We picked up our pilot at 6:30am this morning and sailed in towards the harbour. There are some strong currents in this area but the mighty Spirit of Discovery was able to anchor just off the entrance breakwater and this facilitated as short distance for our brand new tenders to travel. After we were safely at anchor we splashed our 4 tenders and with the tender platforms down we were able to start our tender operation on time as planned.

Many tours today going ashore combined with open tenders to allow all our guests to go ashore and explore at their leisure.

We got some great shots of the ship basking in the sunshine and I hope you enjoy them!! Last tender came back to the ship just on 5pm and it was time to heave up our anchor and set sail for Brest in France. A fantastic day for everyone.

6pm we held our Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Party where it was great to meet all our guests and for them to meet me and my senior team. Dinner was very nice afterwards as well - thanks George!! Jools was amazing last night with a packed full playhouse and I am sure it will be the same tonight – standing ovations and all!!

Next stop Brest in France…
