Spirit of Discovery blog
Dover
Bit of a windy day here in Dover, certainly testing our Azipod propulsion system today, but do not fear; the mighty Spirit of Discovery performed well! We embarked our pilot at 6:30am, after 2 sea days heading north from Lisbon, and we were alongside at CT1 ready for our turnaround day from just before 8am.
Time to say goodbye to our guests leaving us today after our fabulous Gourmet Spain cruise – weather was great!! Big thanks to Kevin Woodford and Jools Holland who leave us today as well. Time to clean all those balconies, load stores, load fuel (bunker is the seafaring term) and of course embark our new guests today for the start of our Natural Scandinavia Cruise and adventure!!
Took a little walk ashore at lunchtime and took a nice picture of the stern of the ship with the Red Ensign clearly visible in the wind – very proud!!
Well my senior team this cruise are Staff Captain Franko, Chief Engineer Dave, Hotel General Manager Dawn and Cruise Director Kayleigh. 5:15pm and time to do our Passenger Emergency Drill then just before 6pm and time to leave and head north towards the tip of Denmark and Skagen.
Nice sea day tomorrow and a chance to catch up with our guests……see you later…
