Day 1 UK to Bucharest
Fly to Bucharest and stay overnight at the 5-star Athenee Palace (5Q), with dinner included.
Day 2 Bucharest to Tulcea via Constanta
Travel to Tulcea. En route, explore Constanta on a tour. Continue to Tulcea where you embark Regina Rheni II and enjoy a welcome drink and dinner on board.
Day 3 Tulcea to Danube Delta
Cruise the Danube Delta. Optional half-day small boat trip.
The meandering river bends, idyllic green reed beds and groves of willow, oak and poplar are not only pretty to look at, but also provide sanctuary for over 300 species of bird – including pelican, great crested grebe and kingfisher. To take a closer look at this glorious natural environment you can join a trip on a smaller boat through the channels and wetlands of the delta.
Day 4 Rousse
Spend a day cruising to Rousse, moor overnight.
Day 5 Rousse to Svistov to Nikopol
Leave Rousse for Svistov with time to look around. An optional excursion visits Veliko Tarnovo. Arrive at Nikopol and moor overnight.
The town sits across three hills beside the dramatic gorge of the Yantra River. See Tsarevets Castle, a medieval fortress complex that was the centre of the Second Bulgarian Empire, which ruled the region from the 12th to 14th centuries. Inside the walls a medieval town sprang up, including the Patriarch’s residence and the Patriarch’s church.
Day 6 Nikopol
Spend the day exploring this fascinating city, or you can join an optional trip to Pleven.
Day 7 The Iron Gates Gorge
Spend the day sailing through the Iron Gates Gorge then overnight to Belgrade.
Day 8 Day 8 Belgrade to Novi Sad
Optional tour of Belgrade.
This tour introduces you to Republic Square, where the National Theatre and Museum are located. You'll also pay a visit to the impressive Kalemegdan Fortress. This sturdy yet pretty fortification encloses the tomb of the Turkish Grand Vizier, Ali Pasha, and now serves as the city's central park.
Enjoy a walking tour of the old town centre and uncover its fine selection of 18th and 19th-century buildings. This tour includes a visit to a wine cellar, where you'll have the opportunity to sample the local wines as well as locally-produced honey.
Day 9 Mohács
Soak-up the culture of Hungary's folk traditions.
Take a trip to the Hungarian lowlands where you can enjoy a traditional performance of horsemanship.
Day 10 Budapest
Arrive in Budapest early with free time to explore.
Day 11 Budapest
Included city tour. Depart at lunchtime for Bratislava.
Day 12 Bratislava to Vienna
Included guided tour. Continue to Vienna, arriving this evening.
Travel to the baroque Palais Auersperg, or one of Vienna's other impressive palaces, near the famous Ringstrasse and parliament for an uplifting concert of Strauss and Mozart. Details of performances will be provided on board.

This morning discover Dürnstein then cruise to Melk.
The wonderfully ornate Melk Abbey is a masterpiece of high baroque architecture. The exterior is an imposing and majestic sight with symmetrical towers and a large octagonal dome, while the interior is lavishly decorated and contains innumerable artistic treasures.
Day 15 Passau
Arrive in Passau for an afternoon exploring. Set sail early evening.
Also known as the 'Venice of Bavaria', Passau has a beautiful has a beautiful location at the confluence of the rivers Danube, Ilz and Inn, and the surrounding hills create a picture-postcard backdrop to the city's towers, spires and red-roofed houses.
Day 16 Regensburg to Kelheim
Morning in Regensburg. Optional excursion to Weltenburg Abbey.
Day 17 Nuremberg
Included sightseeing excursion.
Day 18 Bamberg
Spend the afternoon in medieval Bamberg.
Day 19 Würzburg

Two-night pre-extension with breakfasts
Before your holiday, spend two nights at the locally rated 4-star Novotel Bucharest (4Q), which enjoys a central city location. The hotel blends classic architecture with modern facilities, and features a restaurant serving international cuisine, a bar with views over Victoriei Boulevard, an indoor heated pool, fitness centre and steam room. All 258 bright and contemporary bedrooms are equipped with a television, tea and coffee-making facilities, free Wi-Fi internet access, minibar and hairdryer.
Three nights half-board pre-extension
Before your cruise, transfer from Bucharest airport to Poiana Brasov, in the heart of Transylvania, where you'll spend three nights on a half board basis at the locally rated 4-star Sport Hotel and Spa (4Q). It is picturesquely located at the foot of the Postavarul Mountain amid fragrant pine forests in the Carpathian mountains, yet close to the medieval city of Brasov.
The Sport Hotel's restaurant serves Romanian, Hungarian and international dishes, buffet style, and features a terrace with views of the nearby ski slopes. The state-of-the-art spa centre at Hotel Sport features a gym, a lovely indoor pool with hydro-massage, saunas and a hot tub outdoors. Various massages and beauty treatments are offered as well (extra cost). Combining Bavarian style with contemporary touches, the hotel’s bedrooms offer a comfortable retreat where you can enjoy views of the surrounding scenery. Room facilities include a minibar, flat-screen television, telephone, hairdryer, bathrobes and free Wi-Fi.
After your first night in the hotel you can look forward to an included excursion that will reveal some of the region's famous highlights. On a coach tour of historic Brasov you'll see the council square, where you'll find the remnants of the Saxon walls and bastions which once encircled the city, and see the Black Church, which was discoloured by smoke and flames during the Great Fire of 1689, entrance included. You'll be given free time for lunch and then taken to Bran Castle – or Dracula's castle as it is popularly known – a domineering Gothic structure set atop a 61-metre rock, that is said to have provided Bram Stoker with the inspiration for Dracula's lair.
On your transfer from the hotel to the ship to start your cruise in Bucharest, you'll stop to visit Peles castle – a fantastical piece of perfectly preserved Gothic whimsy, that was built as a summer residence for King Carol I in 1874, entrance is included.
