Three nights half-board pre-extension
Before your cruise, transfer from Bucharest airport to Poiana Brasov, in the heart of Transylvania, where you'll spend three nights on a half board basis at the locally rated 4-star Sport Hotel and Spa (4Q). It is picturesquely located at the foot of the Postavarul Mountain amid fragrant pine forests in the Carpathian mountains, yet close to the medieval city of Brasov.
The Sport Hotel's restaurant serves Romanian, Hungarian and international dishes, buffet style, and features a terrace with views of the nearby ski slopes. The state-of-the-art spa centre at Hotel Sport features a gym, a lovely indoor pool with hydro-massage, saunas and a hot tub outdoors. You'll be given free time for lunch and then taken to Bran Castle – or Dracula's castle as it is popularly known – a domineering Gothic structure set atop a 61-metre rock, that is said to have provided Bram Stoker with the inspiration for Dracula's lair.
On your transfer from the hotel to the ship to start your cruise in Bucharest, you'll stop to visit Peles castle – a fantastical piece of perfectly preserved Gothic whimsy, that was built as a summer residence for King Carol I in 1874, entrance is included.
