Spend the morning cruising through the picturesque scenery of the Moselle to Beilstein. This attractive town is known as the ‘Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle’ due to its historic inaccessibility and scenic setting.

Arrive Cochem, 0900. Depart 1400.
Arrive Alken, 1800.
Cruise to the small town of Cochem, which enjoys a scenic setting beside the Moselle river.
Perched high above the town and crowning a hill cloaked entirely in vines stands the neo-Gothic Reichsburg Castle, and although most of the castle was rebuilt in the 19th century, the original 11th-century keep still survives. The town’s other historic architectural gems include a baroque Town Hall backed by a maze of streets and a quaint market square.
Continue to the pretty village of Alken, which is overlooked by the ruins of Thurant Castle.
Depart Alken, 0400.
Scenic Cruise, Middle Rhine Gorge.
Arrive Bingen, 1400.
Bingen sits at the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley, with its hilltop castles, historic towns and vineyards.
The visionary and composer Hildegard von Bingen lived and worked in Bingen in the 12th century and there is now a museum dedicated to her life near where Hildegard’s abbey once stood.
An included wine tasting excursion from Bingen visits Johannisburg Castle, a vast four-winged complex built between 1605 and 1614.
