Explore Vienna and a selection of scenic riverside cities
Enjoy a three-night stay at the Hotel Savoyen in central Vienna, with the opportunity to visit some of the city’s landmark sights, such as St Charles’ Church, the Spanish Riding School, The Museums Quarter and the Belvedere Museum, independently by public transport or on foot. A concert by The Vienna Residence Orchestra invites you into the world of classical music with well-known pieces by Strauss and Mozart, in an authentic setting, is included on the second day of your stay. During which, a Saga Tour Manager will be on hand to help you make the most of your visit.
Begin the all-inclusive river cruise and spend a morning cruising the Upper Danube to Krems. From here, enjoy an excursion to Göttweig Abbey, founded in 1083 by the Bishop of Passau or opt for a walking tour of Krems, with time at leisure. Continue cruising, taking in the UNESCO-listed landscape of the scenic Wachau Valley, known for its vineyards, monasteries and castle ruins. Spend an afternoon in the historic town of Melk, famed for its Benedictine abbey, then sail overnight to Linz. A full day in this diverse city provides the perfect opportunity to stroll the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, passing the baroque-style buildings and main square.
Sail overnight into Germany to spend a full day in the historic city of Passau, set at the confluence of the Danube, the Ilz and the Inn rivers. See some of Passau’s key highlights, such as the late Gothic town hall and St Stephen’s Cathedral, on a walking tour. Spend the next morning sailing to the small Bavarian town of Vilshofen, which is perched on a promontory between the Danube and Vils rivers. From Vilshofen, enjoy a guided panoramic tour into the Bavarian Forest.

Itinerary
Hotel Savoyen
Travel to Vienna where you will stay three nights at the Hotel Savoyen, located less than half a mile away from the Belvedere Palace. Dinner is included tonight and the rest of your stay is on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Spend the day exploring some of Vienna’s many attractions by public transport and on foot. The popular landmarks of St Charles’ Church, one of the most important baroque churches in Vienna, and Stephansplatz, a square at the geographical centre of the city, are situated less than a mile and a half away from your hotel. Also nearby, The Spanish Riding School is another of Vienna’s highlights, where classical dressage and the training of Lipizzaner horses can be observed.

Enjoy a classical concert by The Vienna Residence Orchestra with famous work by Mozart and Strauss. The Vienna Residence Orchestra invites you into the world of classical music with well-known pieces by these famous composers, in an authentic setting.
Enjoy another full day at leisure. Perhaps visit the city’s largest centre for art and culture, The Museums Quarter, which encompasses around 60 cultural institutions. Browse contemporary art at the Kunsthalle Wien, see the world’s largest collection of work by Egon Schiele at the Leopold Museum or explore the modern collection of art at the mumok. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in this area too.

Enjoy Austrian food and local wine at the atmospheric Wolff Wine Tavern, a family-run eatery established in 1609.
Spirit of the Danube
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and spend the morning and lunchtime at leisure in the city, before boarding Spirit of the Danube later this afternoon. You may like to spend the morning at the nearby Belvedere Museum and Baroque Gardens. The Upper Belvedere is a Baroque palace housing 800 years of art history, with masterpieces by Klimt, Van Gogh, Funke and Schiele. Your all-inclusive cruise begins with dinner tonight.
Spirit of the Danube remains moored in Vienna, and you can enjoy an included tour of the city.

Enjoy a tour of the city, where highlights include the Ringstrasse and Opera House, or opt for a panoramic drive.

Arrive Krems, 1300.
Spend the morning cruising the Danube to the historic town of Krems, gateway to the Wachau Valley. The town’s landmark sight is the 15th-century Steiner Tor, a square gate tower refashioned in Baroque style. Enjoy an included walking tour of Krems and visit to Göttweig Abbey, or join a walking tour of the historic Stein Quarter, with time at leisure.

See the monuments, churches and historic architecture of the old town of Krems on an included, guided walking tour before visiting Göttweig Abbey, founded in 1083 by the Bishop of Passau. Alternatively, opt for a short, guided walking tour along the cobbled streets of the Stein Quarter, the oldest district in Krems, before time at leisure.

Spend the morning cruising through the UNESCO-listed landscape of the Wachau Valley, renowned for its historic monasteries, castle ruins and vineyards. The historic town of Melk features architectural styles from across the centuries. Its jewel is the abbey which sits on a bluff above the town. A masterpiece of baroque architecture, the abbey has been a spiritual and cultural centre of Austria for more than 1,000 years. Sail overnight.
Included excursion
Join an included guided tour of Melk Abbey, a famous Baroque building sitting on a rocky outcrop above the Danube. The abbey was founded in 1089 when Leopold II, Margrave of Austria gave one of his castles to Benedictine monks.

Look forward to spending the day in Linz, a diverse city where the modern architecture and creative arts scene blends seamlessly with the quaint Old Town of baroque-style buildings. The city is known for its Linzer torte, said to be the world’s oldest cake recipe. Sail overnight.

This included tour begins with a short walk from the ship towards the city centre before joining the yellow land train for a trip through the pretty streets of Linz with commentary en route.

Passau is located at the confluence of the Danube, the Ilz and the Inn rivers. The surrounding wooded hills create a scenic backdrop to the city's towers, spires and red-roofed houses. The wealthy past of this cultured city is reflected in its many fine buildings, including the baroque St Stephen's Cathedral, and the old and new Bishop's Palaces.

See some of Passau’s key highlights, such as the late Gothic town hall and St Stephen’s Cathedral, on an included walking tour.
Please note: On October 8, 2027 you arrive in Engelhartzell at 0100 and will have an included walking tour of the town. The ship will depart at 1400 and sail through the afternoon to Passau, arriving 1700.
Depart Passau, 0900.
Arrive Vilshofen, 1200.
The attractive old area of this small Bavarian town is perched on a promontory between the Danube and Vils rivers. Highlights include the Benedictine Abbey and church of St John.
Please note: On October 8, 2027 the ship will be in Passau for the day and an included walking tour will run in the morning. Ship will remain here overnight.
Included excursion
Enjoy a guided panoramic tour into the Bavarian Forest. Drive through the countryside, passing through Bavarian villages and into the woodland. Continue up into the hills stopping at Geyerei viewpoint restaurant, where you can enjoy a coffee and cake while taking in the view.
Disembark Spirit of the Danube after breakfast and begin your return journey.
Please note: On October 8, 2027 you disembark the ship in Passau and begin the journey home after breakfast.
