Oberammergau Passion Play 2030

Nearly 400 years ago, the residents of a little Bavarian town pledged to perform the story of Easter every ten years, if God spared them from the plague that was raging through Europe. With no more deaths in the town from that moment, the residents kept their word and have put on a Passion Play every decade since.

In 2030, Oberammergau will once again stage a series of Passion Play performances, with almost half of the town’s 5,000-odd residents getting involved. Some design sets, some make costumes, others take on acting or directing roles – it’s a real community event.

While exact dates are yet to be announced, we’re already busy planning our Oberammergau 2030 tours. Places on these trips (which include a ticket to a Passion Play performance) are some of our most sought-after, often selling out. Register your interest below and you’ll be among the first to know when we release these holidays, giving you the best choice of itineraries and departure dates.
