Marksburg is overlooked by its castle
Day 1: UK to Nuremberg. Travel to Nuremberg and embark Amadeus Elegant. Your ship begins the overnight cruise towards Bamberg tonight.
Day 2: Bamberg. Set o on an included tour of this UNESCO-listed city this morning. Visit the cathedral and walk through the historic streets to see the Old Town Hall located on an island in the river and the quaint fisherman’s houses of ‘Little Venice’. This afternoon you may like to explore further independently.
Day 3: Würzburg. Cruise the Main
to Würzburg, arriving this afternoon. Set among vineyards, Würzburg was
an important city in the Middle Ages, but owes its present appearance to the prince-bishops of the Schönborn family, who erected numerous baroque buildings. Join an included guided tour of the 18th-century Residenz Palace. Then continue into the Bavarian town to see the 13th-century Fortress of Marienberg, the cathedral and old Main Bridge. Continue cruising this evening and overnight.
Day 4: Wertheim to Miltenberg.
This morning, arrive in Wertheim, a small, typically Franconian town dominated
by the ruins of a 12th-century castle. There’s also a late-Gothic church and medieval town centre. Continue your cruise during lunch, past the Franconian Hills, to arrive in Miltenberg this afternoon. An optional excursion visits the Brauhaus Faust to sample Bavarian beer.
Day 5: Mainz to Bingen. Spend the morning cruising the Main to arrive in Mainz at lunchtime. This afternoon there’s an optional guided tour to the historic centre of Mainz with its medieval cathedral and Electoral Palace.
Day 6: Bingen. An optional excursion this morning traces the footsteps of Hildegard von Bingen, the visionary and composer who lived and worked in Bingen in the 12th-century. Your ship departs this afternoon and cruises through the scenic Middle Rhine en route to Oberwesel.
Day 7: Oberwesel. Continue your cruise through the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine to arrive in Oberwesel this afternoon. Best known for the production of Reisling, the town is surrounded by a medieval
wall and defence towers with Schönburg Castle perched high above it.
Day 8: Oberwesel to Lahnstein. Pass the Lorelei Rock during the cruise to Lahnstein this morning. The town sits at the confluence of the Lahn and Rhine rivers. An optional excursion visits medieval Marksburg Castle.
Day 9: Cochem to Zell. Arrive in the wine town of Cochem during breakfast and perhaps venture to Reichsburg Castle for a guided tour, followed by wine tasting at a local vineyard on an optional excursion. Amadeus Elegant departs after lunch to arrive in Zell later this afternoon.

Day 10: Zell to Traben-Trarbach. Spend a relaxing morning aboard Amadeus Elegant cruising the Moselle past vineyard-clad hills and picturesque towns and villages that cling to the banks. This afternoon an optional walking tour will reveal more of the twin town that straddles the river.
Day 11: Traben-Trarbach to Piesport
to Trier. Depart this morning and follow the Moselle as it meanders through
the chequered landscape, arriving at
the peaceful village of Piesport after lunch. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon amid beautiful scenery before cruising to Trier this evening.
Day 12: Trier to UK. Disembark your ship and begin your return journey.
