Day 1: UK to Basel. Travel to Basel and embark Amadeus Elegant. Enjoy dinner on board this evening as you sail towards Breisach.
Day 2: Breisach. You have the full day to explore Breisach in the photogenic Rhine Valley. This beautifully situated German town stands at the foot of a range of hills known as the Kaiserstühl. You’ll have time to wander through the cobbled streets of the old town and see the Romanesque cathedral, St Stephan’s. Alternatively, you can join an optional excursion to Lake Titisee in the heart of the Black Forest.
Day 3: Strasbourg. Look forward to a
full day in Strasbourg. The capital of the Alsace region, the city displays influences from both France and Germany, sitting as it does on the border. Much of the architecture is German in style, while
the ancient quarter of La Petite France
is a maze of narrow streets lined by medieval buildings, crossed by canals and surrounded by old fortifications. Be sure to see the pink sandstone cathedral, where an astronomical clock springs into action every day at 12.30pm! Enjoy an included canal cruise this morning and this afternoon an optional excursion visits the wine town of Obernai in the heart of Alsace region.
Day 4: Frankfurt. Arrive in Frankfurt this morning and enjoy a full day in this vibrant city set beside the Main river. The medieval old town, in the heart of the city, is lined with half-timbered buildings, boutiques and quaint apple-wine taverns. An optional tour o ers a relaxing way
to see some of the sights, such as the red-sandstone cathedral.
Day 5: Wertheim. Spend the morning cruising through the attractive scenery of the Franconian hills, arriving in Wertheim shortly after lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring this charming town, once famous for the production of glass. The medieval market square is lined with colourful half-timbered buildings and is home to
the intricately carved Angel’s Fountain. Other sights include the 13th-century Pointed Tower, Kittstein Gate and Wertheim Castle overlooking the town.
Day 6: Würzburg. Arrive in the university city of Würzburg this morning for an included city tour. An important city in the Middle Ages, Würzburg still features a large number of baroque buildings, built for the prince-bishops of the Schonborn family in the 17th and 18th centuries. You’ll also visit the Residenz Palace,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In 1720 the prince-bishop Johann Philipp Franz, commissioned master builder Balthasar Neumann to create the ‘palace of all palaces’.

Day 7: Bamberg. Located in Upper Franconia on the Regnitz river, Bamberg was, like Rome, built on seven hills and is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look forward to an included
guided walking tour and see the famous Imperial Cathedral, Altenburg Castle, the Old Town Hall set on an island in the river and the quaint fishermen’s cottages of ‘Little Venice’.
Day 8: Nuremberg to UK. Disembark Amadeus Elegant after breakfast and begin your return flight.
