Reichsburg Castle overlooks Cochem
Day 1: UK to Arnhem. Travel to Arnhem and embark Amadeus Elegant. Your ship will cruise overnight towards Bonn.
Day 2: Bonn. Arrive in Bonn after lunch and discover the highlights on an optional guided walking tour. Your ship sets sail after dinner.
Day 3: Cochem. After breakfast you arrive in romantic Cochem on the Moselle. Explore the town independently this morning, while an optional afternoon excursion visits the castle and is followed by a wine tasting at a vineyard. Depart this evening.
Day 4: Bernkastel-Kues. Sail to Bernkastel-Kues where Renaissance houses line the market square. Perhaps embark on an optional panorama train trip and guided walk of Bernkastel-Kues.
Day 5: Bernkastel-Kues to Trier. Set sail on the Moselle before breakfast, passing vineyard chequered hills, woodland and picturesque towns. Spend the afternoon on an included excursion in ancient Trier. See the Roman city gateway, Porta Nigra, and the cathedral.
Day 6: Trier to Traben-Trabach. Set o in the early hours and spend the morning cruising the Moselle to Traben-Trabach, a picturesque town flanked by hills and vineyards. Enjoy an included wine-tasting on board before your cruise resumes over dinner.
Day 7: Koblenz. Koblenz’ rich history is reflected in a wealth of historic buildings. Arrive before breakfast and perhaps join
an optional excursion to medieval Eltz Castle this morning. An optional walking tour this afternoon explores Koblenz and includes a wine tasting. Sail before dinner and cruise through the Middle Rhine, continuing overnight.
Day 8: Frankfurt. Today you have
the whole day to discover this small, cultural city. See the cathedral and the timber-framed buildings of the city centre – Römerburg – on an included tour. You’ll also visit the Goethe House and Museum. Sail this evening and cruise through
the night.
Day 9: Ascha enburg. Arrive in the early hours and join an optional walking tour of the city before setting sail at lunch. Follow the Main river through Frankfurt, cruising through the afternoon and evening before mooring in Mainz, in the early hours.
Day 10: Mainz. Spend the morning in Mainz where you can join an optional walking tour. Behind the city’s Romanesque cathedral in Gutenbergplatz square is a statue of Johannes Gutenberg, father of modern printing. Depart
after lunch and spend the afternoon and evening cruising the Upper Rhine towards Strasbourg.
Day 11: Strasbourg. Arrive in Strasbourg late morning and enjoy an included canal cruise and tour of the city’s cobbled streets this afternoon.
Day 12: Rüdesheim to Boppard. Arrive in Rüdesheim for a morning exploring. Perhaps join an optional tour and visit to
Siegfried’s Museum of Mechanical Music. Then, sail through the Middle Rhine
to UNESCO-listed Boppard, arriving mid-afternoon. Discover Roman remains and medieval fortifications – explore further during an optional walking tour.
Day 13: Boppard to Andernach. Leave early and cruise through breakfast
to spend the rest of the morning in Andernach. Explore the city on an optional walking tour. Sail during lunch and spend the rest of the day and night cruising.
Day 14: Amsterdam. Arrive in Amsterdam late morning, and after lunch you can
join an included cruise along the city’s canals. See the Skinny Bridge and Montelbaanstoren tower before heading to a dairy farm on the outskirts of the city to sample locally produced cheese.
Day 15: Amsterdam to UK. Disembark Amadeus Elegant and begin your return journey.
