Day 1: UK to Budapest. Fly to Budapest and embark Amadeus Elegant.
This evening your ship begins the overnight journey up the Danube towards Bratislava. Perhaps head out on deck to see Budapest’s illuminated skyline as you begin your cruise.
Day 2: Bratislava. Amadeus Elegant continues cruising through the morning to Slovakia’s capital, arriving this afternoon. Bratislava’s old town, ‘Staré Mesto’, with its historic buildings, provides a stark contrast to the 20th-century buildings, some of which serve as a reminder of its communist past. You can learn more with an expert guide during an optional tour of the of city.
Day 3: Vienna. This morning enjoy an included sightseeing tour of Vienna, taking in sights such as the Imperial Hofburg Palace and the State Opera House.
This afternoon an optional excursion visits Schönbrunn Palace and in the evening
you can attend an optional classical
music concert in a traditional Viennese Concert Hall. A shuttle bus will be provided to transfer you to the city centre.
Day 4: Krems to Weissenkirchen.
Arrive early this morning in Krems and perhaps set o on an optional scenic tour through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley. This afternoon, continue your cruise to Weissenkirchen where you can join an optional walking tour and wine tasting.
Set sail for Linz this evening.
Day 5: Linz. This morning, explore Linz on an optional walking tour, taking in the main square with its baroque-style buildings,
and vibrant modern arts and music scene. Set sail again this afternoon and cruise overnight.
Day 6: Vilshofen. Head to Schärding
in Upper Austria and enjoy an included guided boat trip along the Inn river, followed by a walking tour. Return to your ship in Vilshofen and enjoy an evening
of live entertainment from a traditional Bavarian band.
Day 7: Riedenberg. Enjoy a leisurely morning cruising the Danube, passing
a string of hilltop castle ruins. Arrive in Riedenberg, beside the Altmühl river, this afternoon. Perched above the town on
a rocky outcrop you’ll see 13th-century Prunn Castle.
Day 8: Forcheim to Bamberg. Spend the morning cruising Germany’s smaller waterways before joining the Main river. Pause in Forcheim this afternoon for an included excursion to medieval Bamberg. Enjoy a walking tour of the old city, set beneath the Michaelsberg Monastery.
Day 9: Würzburg. Cruise the Main
to Würzburg, arriving this afternoon.
Visit the 18th-century Residenz Palace on an included tour. Then continue into the Bavarian town to see the 13th-century Fortress of Marienberg, the cathedral and old Main Bridge.
Day 10: Miltenberg. Arrive mid morning and discover the old town of Miltenberg with its 13th-century castle and timber-framed houses or perhaps join an optional brewery visit and tasting.
Vienna’s Imperial Palace
Day 11: Mainz to Koblenz. Spend the morning in Mainz, where the Main meets the Rhine. An optional guided tour explores the centre, where you can see the medieval cathedral and Electoral Palace. During lunch your ship will sail through the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine, a beautiful part of the river dotted with castles
that has inspired artists and musicians for centuries. You’ll arrive in Koblenz this evening.
Day 12: Koblenz. Koblenz’ rich history is reflected in a wealth of monuments and historic buildings. This morning an optional excursion visits medieval Eltz Castle.
Sail towards Arnhem this afternoon and arrive in the early hours.
Day 13: Arnhem to UK. Disembark Amadeus Elegant.
