Cruise into the heart of Germany’s wine region
This all-inclusive river cruise in 2026 aboard Spirit of the Moselle reveals the attractive towns of Germany. In Würzburg you have the opportunity to visit the 18th-century Residence Palace. Sail overnight into the Main valley to visit Miltenberg. The old town, enclosed within ancient walls and gates, is home to picturesque cobblestone streets of half-timbered houses and old wine taverns, which can be seen during a walking tour. Continue along the Main to the city of Aschaffenburg and join a local expert for a walking tour of the city, pausing at Castle Square, which is overlooked by the 17th-century Johannisburg Palace complex. Discover the highlights of Frankfurt with a panoramic coach tour and time at leisure or during a coach and walking tour of the city, visiting Römerberg, a picturesque square lined with medieval buildings.
Admire the scenery of the Rhine Gorge, where the river cuts through the mountains in a valley known for its fairytale castles and quaint villages. Look forward to a wine tasting session in the classic Rhineland wine town of Boppard, before arriving in Koblenz. Above the town sits the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, a citadel built by the Prussians between 1816 and 1832. Join a local guide for a walking tour to see highlights such as the Deutsches Eck, or German Corner, the Old Town and the Schängel fountain, which stands in the courtyard of the Town Hall.

Spirit of the Moselle

Travel to Würzburg and embark Spirit of the Moselle.

Depart 2100.
An important city in the Middle Ages, Würzburg features numerous baroque buildings erected by the prince-bishops of the Schönborn family in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Residence Palace, one of Europe’s most renowned baroque castles, was built here between 1720 and 1724 for the prince-bishop Johann Philipp Franz, who commissioned master builder Balthasar Neumann to create the ‘palace of all palaces’.
Sail overnight.
Included excursion
An included excursion visits the Residence Palace for a guided tour. Afterwards, you have the choice to join a walking tour through the historic city centre of Würzburg in the company of a local guide, or to return to your ship.

Arrive Miltenberg, 1200. Depart 1800.
Arrive Aschaffenburg, 2300.
Miltenberg is set in the scenic Main valley, between the Odenwald and the Spessart Mountains. The oldest part of the city lies on the left bank of the Main below a steep wooded hill, crowned by a 13th-century castle. The old town, enclosed within ancient walls and gates, is home to picturesque cobblestone streets of half-timbered houses and old wine taverns.

Join a local expert for an included walking tour of the city, pausing at Castle Square, which is overlooked by the vast, 17th-century Johannisburg Palace complex. This excursion covers approximately one-and-a-half miles, however a shorter included walking tour is also available.

Depart Aschaffenburg, 1400.
Arrive Frankfurt, 2000.
The city of Aschaffenburg is set beside the Main river and the riverbank is dominated by the Renaissance Johannisburg Palace. This vast complex features four wings and two towers, built in the 17th century. In the city’s old quarter, on Theaterplatz square, is a fine neo-classical theatre, arcade and fountains. Nearby, there is a replica of a Roman villa discovered in Pompeii – the Pompejanum – commissioned by King Ludwig I and built between 1840-1848.

Join a local expert for an included walking tour of the city, pausing at Castle Square, which is overlooked by the vast, 17th-century Johannisburg Palace complex. You will have the choice to walk directly from the ship or transfer by coach into the city centre for this excursion.

Depart 1400.
The modern city of Frankfurt sits beside the Main river. The medieval old town, in the heart of the city, is lined with half-timbered buildings, boutiques and quaint apple-wine taverns. In the central square, Römerberg, you can see the medieval Römer complex with their distinctive stepped gables and opposite is the Old St Nicholas church.
Arrive in Mainz this evening for an overnight mooring.

See more of Frankfurt on an included excursion, with the choice of a panoramic coach tour and free time to explore independently or choose a coach and walking tour of the city, visiting Römerberg. This picturesque square at the heart of Frankfurt is lined with medieval buildings, including the Römer, Frankfurt’s city hall. You will also visit St Paul’s Church.

Sail early from Mainz and enjoy a relaxing morning cruising through the scenic Middle Rhine Gorge, past the mythical Lorelei Rock, to Boppard. The waterfront of this classic Rhineland wine town is overlooked by the twin towers of St Severus Church and vineyards. There are extensive Roman remains, medieval fortifications and half-timbered buildings.

Look forward to sampling locally-produced wine at a venue near Boppard.

Koblenz, meaning ‘merging of the rivers’, is situated on the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. At the exact point where the two rivers meet, the Deutsches Eck, there is a monument with a huge equestrian statue of Emperor Wilhelm I. Above the town sits the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, a citadel built by the Prussians between 1816 and 1832.
