In Bonn, see sights such as the Romanesque Minster Cathedral and the University of Bonn, on a tour by coach and on foot. Look forward to a full day in the city of Cologne, where you can choose between a walking tour of the medieval Old Town, with its churches, guilds and merchants houses, or opt for a tour of the UNESCO-listed Cologne Cathedral.
Continue into the Netherlands to visit Arnhem, known for its connection to one of the famous battles of World War Two and the subject of the epic war film A Bridge too Far. See more of the city on a walking tour to the central square to admire traditional Dutch architecture. Join a tour to see some of the highlights of Utrecht, where the medieval heart of the city is overlooked by the 14th-century Domtoren bell tower. Finally, explore the harbour town of Hoorn on the edge of Lake IJssel, once home to the founders of the Dutch East India Company. It has many historic buildings as a result of its early seafaring wealth, some of which you will see during a walking tour.

Spirit of the Moselle

Travel to Koblenz and embark Spirit of the Moselle.

Depart Koblenz, 0900.
Arrive Linz am Rhein, 1200. Depart 1800.
Arrive Bonn, 2000.
This attractive little town is a new destination for Saga River Cruises. Its historic cobbled streets lead to the main Market Square, which is overlooked by 15th-century, half-timbered buildings. The 14th-century Castle of Linz sits on the river bank and, up until the early 18th century, was used for river toll collection.

Depart Bonn, 1700.
Arrive Cologne, 2000.
Bonn was the capital of West Germany from 1949 until 1999. The key sights of this compact city, birthplace of famous composer Beethoven, include the Beethoven monument, Romanesque Minster Cathedral and the University of Bonn.

Enjoy an included tour by coach to see sights such as the Romanesque Minster Cathedral and the University of Bonn, which was formerly the Elector’s Palace – with its elegant Hofgarten and the baroque City Hall. Alternatively, explore on foot with a local guide.

Cologne has long been an important trading centre and was once home to the composers Schumann and Mendelssohn. The city’s main attraction is the twin-spired Gothic cathedral which dominates the skyline. There are also baroque palaces, medieval churches and a 16th-century City Hall. The cobbled streets of the medieval Old Town are home to characteristic churches and guilds.

The harbour town of Hoorn, set beside the IJssel Lake, was once home to the founders of the Dutch East India Company. It boasts many historic buildings as a result of its early seafaring wealth. Notably the State Council building, which houses the Westfries Museum and its collection of ceramic tiles, silver, china and model ships.
