On all cruises we set aside a number of cabins within each level at a discounted fare, with the highest discount of 35% for ocean cruises and 25% for river cruises available on selected levels. These cabins are sold on a first come, first served basis. As cabins are sold, the discount begins to reduce, and continues to reduce until those selected cabins are sold.
This means that the earlier you book, the higher the chance of securing a greater discount. Our price panels clearly show the full cruise price, along with the current discount fare.
Please note: During busy periods for holiday bookings, the early booking discount can reduce rapidly. We recommend that you book early to benefit from the best booking discounts and to secure your preferred cabin.
When promoting new cruises for the first time, we contact customers on our Advanced Registration list first, allowing then to secure the cabin of their choice and benefit from the best savings. Our brochures are then sent out to loyalty club members first, followed by past cruise goers and then everyone else.

Visit the historic towns and cities of Lake IJssel
Discover the towns and cities surrounding Lake IJssel in the Netherlands on this all-inclusive river cruise aboard Spirit of the Rhine in 2025 – the ideal way to explore a region criss-crossed by a network of waterways. Visit Medemblik, a city of traditional gabled buildings built across numerous little islands connected by bridges.
Continue to Lelystad, from where you can visit the village of Giethoorn and see its charming thatched cottages on an included canal cruise.
Sail across Lake IJsselmeer and onto the Dutch waterways to reach Zaandam. From here an included excursion visits Keukenhof Gardens to discover its world-famous floral displays independently.
Finally, enjoy a full day to explore Amsterdam at your leisure. Among the city’s most interesting sights are the Royal Palace on Dam Square, the floating flower market, the Central Railway Station, which is built on thousands of wooden piles, and the 19th-century Rijksmuseum in the city’s museum quarter.
Itinerary
Spirit of the Rhine
Travel to Amsterdam to embark Spirit of the Rhine.
Depart Amsterdam, 0400.
Arrive Medemblik, 1300. Depart 1900.
Arrive Lelystad, 2200.
Spend the morning cruising across the IJsselmeer lake to Medemblik. The city is built across numerous little islands, randomly dissected by canals. Its medieval origins can be seen in the huge fortified Radboud Castle, build on the orders of Count Floris V.
Depart Lelystad, 1300.
Arrive Zaandam, 1800.
Lelystad, set beside the Markermeer lake, is built on reclaimed land. Founded in 1967, it was named after Cornelis Lely, who engineered the Afsluitdijk dam, making the reclamation possible. An included excursion this morning explores the car-free village of Giethoorn, known as the ‘Venice of the Netherlands’, by canal cruiser passing by the distinctive thatched houses that line the network of canals.
This afternoon, cruise the IJsselmeer lake and onto the Dutch waterways to Zaandam.
Depart Zaandam (for Keukenhof Gardens), 2200.
Arrive Amsterdam, 0000.
Today an included excursion visits Keukenhof Gardens, 'the most beautiful spring garden in the world!'. Spend the day exploring the grounds, which cover an area of 79 acres, independently. Admire displays of millions of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths, and perhaps pick up some ideas for your own garden from the themed gardens here.
Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, started life as a fishing village in the 13th century. Among the most interesting sights are the Royal Palace on Dam Square, the floating flower market, the Central Railway Station, which is built on thousands of wooden piles, and the grand 19th-century Rijksmuseum. Tree-shaded canals, historic bridges, colourful cafes, gabled buildings and plenty of bicycles combine to create an atmosphere that is unique to this city.
Disembark Spirit of the Rhine after breakfast and begin your return journey to the UK.
