From the pier, take a short transfer to the Arenal d’en Castell, where you can look forward to a short stop to admire the view over Arenal and the Addaia Fortress.

The drive continues towards Fornells Beach where you will pause for another short photo stop. The final stop will be at Monte Toro, the island’s spiritual centre. At the summit of this hill is the Sanctuary of the Mother of God of Toro, run by a Franciscan community of nuns. There is also a statue of Jesus of the Sacred Heart, whose pedestal is dedicated to those Menorcans who died during the Moroccan war.

Return to the port, following a photo stop at the top of Mount Toro.

Enjoy the scenery and history of Cartagena and its surrounding countryside on a relaxing panoramic coach tour. Your tour begins with a drive to Cabo de Palos lighthouse, which is located on a small peninsula. Construction began on the lighthouse in 1863 and it was first lit on January 31, 1865. The building rises 100 feet above sea level. 

Next, relax as you drive south through the Murcia countryside to Sierra Minera de la Unión. The Romans were the first people to begin extracting minerals from the mines here, and with a landscape that is laced with zinc, iron, lead, and pyrite, you can enjoy some excellent views. Your tour continues to Cartagena, which was founded by the Phoencians in 227 BC and flourished as part of the Roman Empire. During your city tour you will see reminders of Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine and Moorish rule in the architecture. You can also see the Punic wall, The Civil War Museum, or the Navy Museum before you head back to the ship.

Learn about Gibraltar's unique wartime history on this tour. Begin by travelling past the British/Spanish Land Frontier. Your first stop is Europa Point, site of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Britain, where you can savour dramatic views of the Atlantic merging with the Mediterranean.

Next you will be taken to the nature reserve, home of the Northern Defences Sector, where you might be able to catch a glimpse of Gibraltar’s most famous residents, the mischievous Barbary apes. Continue to the Hays Level where you begin a guided tour and visit the exhibition which displays a collection of photographs illustrating the history of the World War Two tunnels.

This tour involves walking of up to approximately three-quarters-of-a-mile lasting around 45 minutes with a steep incline of 450 yards on the way out of the tunnels. There are some low ceilings in the tunnels.

Go in search of dolphins and other marine life on this aquatic-creature based boat trip. Gibraltar’s bay boasts three species of dolphin and seven species of whale, as well as sunfish, flying fish and turtles. After departing from your ship, take the short drive to the ‘Dolphin World’ pleasure cruiser.

Then, after setting off into the bay, learn about the history of this tiny colony, and you will be given an insight into the marine life of the bay with a running commentary from your guide. After landing, return transport will be available back to the ship, or if there’s enough time, you can choose to walk into town for shopping and a little independent exploration.

We recommend that you take some warm clothing for the boat ride. This excursion involves approximately 300 yards of walking to reach the vessel and a couple of steps to board the vessel unassisted. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, and refreshments can be purchased on board if you wish. The boat is not exclusive to saga guests.

From the quayside, travel north towards Gibraltar’s unique airport runway to the border between this small British Overseas territory and Spain. Proceed along the outskirts of town, passing the American War Memorial and The Trafalgar Cemetery to arrive at Europa Point.

After a panoramic tour, you will be dropped off in front of the Bristol Hotel in Main Street, where you will be greeted by the Distillery Manager who will walk you to the venue. The tour begins with a brief history of the Art of Distilling, plus an insight into gin production before a comprehensive timeline of gin’s chequered past. Enjoy a gin tasting experience, before returning to the port.

Additional Information

There is approximately 100 yards of essential walking and a couple of steps to enter the venue. This is a small group tour with limited capacity. Any type of wheelchairs, scooters or foldable walkers are not permitted on the buses. These can be brought to the bus and then stored at the terminal until you return from the tour.

Discover the iconic Rock of Gibraltar and St Michael's Cave on this excursion.

Leave the port and drive towards the airport to reach the British/Spanish Frontier. Then proceed towards the southernmost point of Gibraltar, Europa Point and the sight of the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain. Pause here at the vantage point to take in the view.

From here, you head to the upper Rock area and to St Michael’s Cave, where you can wonder at the mass of stalagmites and stalactites. The cave recently underwent a £2 million investment and now features a state of the art ‘light and sound’ experience called ‘the awakening’.

Your coach then takes you to King Charles V Wall where you may see the famous Barbary apes. Then, head back to your ship.

Expect to walk 350 yards on this excursion. At Europa Point the ground will be flat with up to three steps. The are 75 steps to negotiate at St Michael's Cave. Comfortable, non-slip shoes are recommended as some areas of the cave can be slippery. This tour is not suitable for those with limited mobility, we have graded this excursion as moderate due to the number of steps you will need to negotiate inside the caves. Lighting in the cave is dim and coloured for effect.

Disembark your ship to start your walking tour of Mahon accompanied by a local guide. En route, you will pass by the local market, bustling every morning in the heart of the city centre.

Next, you’ll pause outside the Santa Maria Church to admire the exterior pillars and side chapels before stopping by Teatro Principal De Mao – built in 1829, titled Spain’s oldest opera house.

After your visit, it’s time to head back to the ship by foot with your guide, taking in the passing sights one last time.

Visit the port town of Ciutadella and megalithic chamber tomb, Naveta des Tudons.

Leaving the ship, board your coach and travel to your first stop, Naveta des Tudons. This megalithic burial chamber was used between 200 and 750 BC, and you will have the opportunity to learn about the tomb's history during your visit.

After taking some photographs, your tour continues to Ciutadella, the old capital of the island. Best explored on foot, on arrival begin a guided walking tour of the city, which will pass the cathedral, which was built on the foundations of the High Mosque that existed in Ciutadella during the Arab rule.

After your walking tour you return to the port by coach.

Enjoy a short drive to the Arenal d’en Castell, which boasts an expansive view over the Arenal and Addaia Fortress. This quaint Spanish island is also home to the Caribbean-like Cala Tirant – a surf beach set on the northernmost point of Minorca, which you’ll be able to see from a distance during your tour.

Continuing to the fishing village of Fornells, you can take in some more blue landscapes with the surrounding bay before heading to the key highlight of your tour: Binissues. Home to a farm and museum manor, tradition and history intertwine in a rural environment, giving you the most authentic experience of Minorca.

During your visit, you can see a traditional working farm in action, alongside the stately home with richly decorated rooms. Also, explore a peasant farmer’s house and an old straw loft housing relics of the peasant past, revealing what daily life was like over a hundred years ago. While here, you will also find out about Minorca’s most popular cocktail drink, Pomada, first made for the British Sailors who were stationed on the island for over a century.

At the end of your visit, sample some of the local products as you are shown how this simple, yet refreshing drink is prepared. It will be served in a “porrón”, a little bottle which will be shared outside on the pastoral grounds. Before returning to the port, there will be a stop at Monte Toro, the highest spot on the island, providing you with a few panoramic photo opportunities.

Make the short drive from the pier to the lagoons of S´Albufera, a site of outstanding natural beauty. Now a protected natural park, the area was once threatened by the possibility of a private housing development that would have seriously damaged the lagoon and the local ecosystem if not stopped. Learn how the local administration is restoring the environment through the plantation of autochthonous vegetation.

Take in the natural beauty while walking along the Camí de Cavalls, a historic trail along the island’s coastline, originally constructed for military purposes during the French rule. As time passed, some sections of the route were gradually lost to urban growth and erosion, but these are being restored to allow both locals and visitors to use the trail and enjoy the natural environment. See the historic defence tower Torre Des Rambles, built by the British on top of a craggy cliff. Enjoy the amazing view over the island Illa d’en Colom along the walk back to Es Grau beach.

After your hike, return to the ship by coach.

Enjoy a scenic drive from the pier through a landscape revered for its bountiful crops as you make your way to Nulles, where you will visit a winery.

On arrival, you will be greeted with a welcome glass of cava as your guide offers a presentation about the processes of winemaking and the influence of this region. Next, take a leisurely stroll through the vineyards, while walking you will have the opportunity to taste the wine amidst the serenity of the vineyards.

Continue to visit the Wine Cathedral of Nulles, a modernist building surrounded by the old vineyards. While here, you will taste a white and red wine accompanied by roasted hazelnuts. Lastly, head to the wine tasting room where you can taste freshly baked bread paired with extra virgin olive oil, accompanied by a glass of cava from Adernats.

Finally, head back to the coach for the return drive to the ship.

Travel by coach from the pier to Reus, the administrative centre of Baix Camp and the second largest city in the Province of Tarragona. Reus is also the city where the celebrated architect Antoni Gaudí was born. On arrival, embark on a short guided walking tour of the historic city centre for an introduction to the area, before some free time to explore independently.

Afterwards, reboard the coach for the 30-minute drive to the coastal town of Cambrils. On arrival, follow your guide on a short walking tour of the town centre before enjoying some free time at the promenade. Perhaps take a stroll along the seafront and browse the boutiques and souvenir shops, or take a walk on the beach.

Expect to walk approximately three-and-a-half miles. The terrain in Reus and Cambrils will be mostly flat, with some steps. Additional walking during your free time is at your discretion. The drive to Reus and from Cambrils to the ship will take approximately 45 minutes each way. You will have approximately 30 minutes free time in Reus and 45 minutes free time at Cambrils promenade.

Begin your tour with a short drive through the hilly city to Tarragona’s historic centre, where you will embark on a guided walking tour. Tarragona is renowned for its medieval charm and Roman heritage. See iconic landmarks, such as the Porta del Roser, as you make your way to Tarragona Cathedral. Inside the cathedral you can view the blend of Gothic and Romanesque styles.

Pause for a refreshing drink before proceeding with the second part of the walking tour, making your way to see the incredible exterior of the Roman amphitheatre, an ancient site once bustling with horse and chariot races. Continue to the Mediterranean Balcony, an elevated vantage point overlooking the entire city, before re-boarding the coach for the short return drive to the ship.

Barcelona is the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region. It is known for its vibrant art and architecture. On this excursion you will have approximately five hours of free time to explore the city independently at your own pace.

Perhaps head to La Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s soaring masterpiece, whose countless stained-glass windows, ornate spires and beguiling sculptures have earned the cathedral a UNESCO World Heritage site designation. Or perhaps explore the labyrinthine streets of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, which is fringed by the elegant promenade of La Rambla. There is plenty to do in this seaside city.

This tour is unguided. An escort will accompany you on the coach journey only. On arrival into Barcelona the coach will drop you off and pick you up at La Rambla, less than a mile from the Gothic Quarter. Walking is at your discretion, but a moderate amount will be required to explore the city. You will have approximately five hours of free time in Barcelona. No entrances are included. Head from the pier to Parc Sama, nestled in the Baix Camp Tarragonés, between Cambrils and Montbrió del Camp. The garden was built in 1881 as a summer residence for the Samà Indian family, marquises of Marianao. Protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) in the Historical Garden category, Parc Samà belongs to the European Itinerary of Historical Gardens. There is plenty so see as you explore Parc Sama, including the opportunity to visit the small Olive Oil Museum and the Vermouth Museum for a tasting of three types of Vermouth.

Afterwards, you will have some free time to explore the gardens independently before reboarding the coach for the return drive to Tarragona, where you will have a short panoramic drive around the city before reaching the ship.

Additional Information

Expect to walk at least half a mile over garden paths that may be uneven with further walking during your free time entirely at your discretion. The gardens are popular and therefore are usually busy. You may also encounter animals in the gardens including peacocks, guinea fowls, squirrels, and other inhabitants.

Discover the history and key sights of Tarragona from the comfort of your coach on this panoramic drive. During your walking tour see the cathedral and La Lonja, Valencia’s Silk Market, today a UNESCO World Heritage site. Completed in 1498 its original function was as a trading exchange for oil but over time it developed into a maritime trading centre and silk exchange.

Then continue to the famous Central Market, one of the oldest and largest food markets in Europe, housed in a beautiful Art Nouveau building. Other highlights seen during your walk include the Town Hall Square, Plaza de la Reina and the Serrano Towers, before returning to the ship by coach.

This excursion is mainly on foot and will include approximately up to one-and-a-quarter mile of walking. Entrance to the cathedral is not included. Refreshments are not included.

This excursion takes you to the Vall de Uxó district and the San José Caves. Here you will be able to experience the tranquillity of the longest navigable underground river in Europe.

Inside the cavern you can contemplate the dramatic shapes of the rocks that the water has moulded over the passage of thousands of years, and stalactites and stalagmites that grow at the rate of one inch every century. Listen to the sound of silence in a place where it is possible to discern the murmur of the water and to hear the echo of a drop of water falling into an underground lagoon: discover a beautiful landscape that nature keeps hidden from the light.

Your trip on an open rowing-boat take you through unusually named caves such as the Bat Cave, the Dog Kennel and Diana’s Lake. At one point you break your journey and take a short walk through a section of the caves, re-joining the boat in an especially large and beautiful cavern before drifting gently back to the entrance via a different series of tunnels.

After this relaxing experience, return by coach to your ship.

There is approximately 450 yards' walking on this excursion over some uneven ground and, with a few steps to negotiate. Each boat holds up to 14 passengers. You will need to be able to get in and out of the boat unassisted. There is no commentary during the boat ride, but your guide will give an explanatory talk before you board. Photography is not permitted inside the caves. The tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. The drive to Vall D’Uxo district is approximately one hour.

Explore the city of Valencia by tuk tuk and admire the city highlights including the architectural mix of buildings, such as the Hemisferic and the Museum of Science and Arts. The ride continues, passing by the Palau de Musica which is located in the old riverbed and is the home base of Valencia's principal orchestra.

Slowly but surely, you will reach the city. You will have a little free time to walk through the local Colon Market, dotted with small bars and restaurants. Next, you head towards the old town with short photo stops at Torres de Serranos as well as the beautiful Cathedral of Valencia, a must-see attraction. In addition, the ceramic museum is a feast for the eyes.

Walking at any photo stops, including the market, is at your own discretion. Guests must be able to get in and out of the Tuk Tuks unaided and will need to negotiate two high steps to do this. Please consider taking an additional layer of clothing as elements of the ride may be colder than expected. Join your coach and guide and head to the Albufera Natural Park. On arrival, begin a walk along the Pujol Gorge path that leads to the Estany del Pujol, an artificial pond created in 1970 and a protected area for local birds. Along the way, your guide will share facts and information about Albufera, including traditional customs of the area.

Next, step aboard a boat to begin a trip across the largest lake in Spain and one of the most important wetland areas on the Iberian Peninsula. This excursion offers a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of the ""Paella Valenciana"" from an expert chef.

Your culinary journey begins with a short drive to a Market located in Algirós, a modern district developed in the 20th century. As you wander through the market, you will experience the bustling atmosphere and see the fresh Mediterranean ingredients that are integral to the region’s culinary traditions. From colourful fruit and vegetables to delectable cheeses, aromatic spices to freshly baked delicacies, the market truly reflects the essence of Valencia's vibrant food scene.

After immersing yourself in the local market culture, you will head to Valencia Club Cocina and put on your apron for the Paella workshop. This unique venue offers an intimate setting where you will meet your professional chef who will guide you through the process of creating authentic Spanish paella using a traditional recipe. Alongside the paella, you will also learn how to prepare a Spanish omelette and coca en llanda (traditional Valencian sponge cake), a delicious regional treat. Then, gather around the table to taste the dishes you have prepared.

Afterwards, reboard your coach for a short panoramic drive around Valencia before returning to the port.

Depart Cartagena by coach for a journey through the foothills of the Sierra Carrascoy. Your destination is the city of Murcia, capital of the province of the same name. Settled by the Moors in the ninth century and conquered by the Christians in the 13th, this bustling city offers an array of architectural delights. Your first stop is the Monastery of the Virgin of Fuensanta, the Patroness of Murcia. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Murcian orchards. Continuing to the city, there is a stop to visit the cathedral in the main square. Next to the cathedral, you can view the exterior of the Bishop’s Palace. 

After, continue to another of Murcia’s historic buildings, the Royal Casino. Located in the city centre, not far from the cathedral, the casino dates from 1847 and is in a mix of different architectural styles, with interiors modelled on Roman and Moorish buildings. Declared a National Historic Building in 1983, it was completely refurbished between 2006 and 2009, when all the original decorative features were restored. 

Leaving the casino, pass through the squares of Santo Domingo and Romea. There is also some free time for a stroll on your own before returning by coach to Cartagena.

We recommend wearing flat walking shoes and to dress conservatively, with knees and shoulders covered when visiting religious sites. Discover the highlights of Cartagena, originally settled in 223 BC. The city has flourished under Roman, Muslim and Arab rule, and today offers a vast cultural legacy. Your walking tour begins at the pier. Walk along the sea wall to reach the Town Hall Square and the main avenue, admiring interesting modernist buildings from the beginning of the 20th century.

You then continue to the Roman Theatre, the most important archaeological site in the region. The theatre is in the heart of Cartagena but was lost for more than 1,500 years: it dates back some 2,000 years to the heyday of Cartagena's period as an important Roman city. Built on one of the highest hills in the city, its tiered rows of seats were dug out of the rock so that 6,000 spectators had a view of the stage.

After seeing the theatre, you have the choice of returning to your ship with your guide or staying in the town centre to explore on your own.

This excursion is entirely on foot and covers at least two and a half miles, almost entirely over some cobblestones and uneven surfaces when you reach the Roman theatre. There will be at least 60 steps at the Roman theatre.

In Spanish culture, horses are hugely important – not only historically for work, but for entertainment too. Great steeds entertain crowds of people who enjoy the graceful movement of such a powerful animal. Ideal for equine enthusiasts, this tour offers an up-close experience with some well-kept and trained Spanish horses, much sought after throughout the world.

Enjoy a short panoramic drive out of Cartagena and arrive at this hacienda – an open space – where horses are trained. Here, admire and even touch the brood mares and foals, learn the art of horse training and how to manage stallions before your horse show begins, featuring an Andalucian dancer.

After the show, enjoy a tasting of the local produce created in the area (wine and olive oil) before returning to the port, perhaps with a new-found fondness for these powerful Spanish horses.

This visit to the Jumilla wine region offers you the opportunity to learn the history and characteristics of different Jumilla wines. Jumilla has had an important wine-making tradition for centuries and today is recognised as one of Spain’s most promising wine regions. Located to the northwest of the capital city of Murcia, the area is made up of wide valleys separated by a chain of mountains.

Leave the port and travel by coach to Jumilla. Your first visit will be at the BSI Winery, which was the first producer of wines in the region. Learn about their history and methods and enjoy a tasting of two of their wines. The tour then continues to Viña Elena, one of the oldest family-run bodegas in the region. Originally known as Bodegas Pachecho, the bodega will give you a chance to take a step back in time and witness the evolution that has made the business it is today. Here, you will taste three of their wines and a light snack before returning to Cartagena by coach.

Leaving the port of Motril with your coach and local guide, travel along the busy coastal road to Nerja, a seaside town at the eastern end of the Costa del Sol. Although now a popular resort, it has retained its Moorish appearance, with picturesque streets of whitewashed houses.

Nerja is most famous for its prehistoric caves, about two miles from the town centre. The caves were discovered by a group of boys from the nearby village of Maro in 1959 and are now one of Andalusia’s most popular tourist attractions. Formed by underground rivers and natural calcification five million years ago, this three-mile cave system features dramatic stalactites and stalagmites. Explore the open sections as your guide shares its geological history.

After exploring the caves, continue to the town of Nerja where you will begin a short walking tour. Stroll through its quaint streets lined with whitewashed buildings. You will then have some time at leisure to explore. Perhaps head to the Balcón de Europa to take in the views before the return drive to your ship.

There are approximately 450 steps to negotiate inside the caves. It will be dark; the ground will be uneven and may be wet and slippery. The average temperature inside the cave is 19 degrees Celsius. Set off on a scenic drive through Costa Tropical’s villages, with a stop in Almuñécar where you will have free time to explore. Your drive along the western coast takes you through La Herradura, a quaint town known for its horseshoe shaped bay. To the east, Punta de la Mona features a rocky promontory adorned with luxury villas.

Further along the coastline is Marina del Este, a bustling port known for its water sports scene and picturesque coves dotted with sailboats. Next, it is time to head to Almuñécar. Founded by the Phoenicians in the eighth century BC, Almuñécar thrived during the Roman times. Its current name, however originated from its long Moorish occupation. Here you will have approximately 45 minutes of free time before heading back to Motril.

Leave Motril behind and head inland to Granada, perched 2,100 feet above sea level at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. Once ruled by the Moors from the eighth century until 1492, Granada is packed with history and panoramic views.

On arrival you will have approximately four hours to explore this city on your own. Perhaps wander through the streets of the Albaicín, the historic Arab quarter offering views of Alhambra Palace at Plaza San Nicolas. Alternatively, explore the central areas of the city, where you'll find the cathedral and the Royal Chapel.

After exploring Granda at your leisure, it is time to reboard the motor coach for the return drive to your ship in Motril.

This excursion is not guided but an escort will accompany you on the coach journey. The drive from Motril to Granada will take approximately one-and-a-half hours each way and you will be dropped off at and picked up at Paseo de la Bomba, a historic walkway. Your visit to Granada is independent, where you will have approximately four hours of free time. The duration of free time can be impacted by traffic conditions. Walking is at your discretion, but a moderate amount will be required to explore the city. We recommend that you wear flat, walking shoes, as the streets in Granada, especially in the old part of the city, are mostly uneven with cobblestones.

Enjoy a scenic drive from Motril to Las Alpujarras, a series of picturesque mountain villages. These white-washed towns sit on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, separated by deep valleys that lead down to the Mediterranean. The Alpujarra region is renowned for its unique microclimate. Its terraced farmlands are constantly watered by the snowmelt from above, creating a high-altitude oasis of greenery dramatically contrasting with the arid foothills below. The area is rich with history, once serving as the last stronghold of the Spanish Moors.

Pause for a short photo stop at Presa de Rules, before continuing your drive, passing through Orgiva before you reach Pampaneira Village, which lies almost 5,000 feet above sea level. The village retains its traditional Berber architecture, with terraced clusters of grey-white box-shaped houses and flat clay roofs, a style still seen in Morocco’s Rif and Atlas mountains. On arrival, you will embark on a 30-minute walking tour before pausing at a local bar to sample some tapas. Afterwards, you will have some time at leisure to explore. As you make your way back to the ship, pass through the village of Orgiva, and stop in Lanjarón for some time at leisure before heading back to your ship.

Visit UNESCO-listed Tétouan on this half-day excursion. The city stands on a rocky plateau detached from the southern flank of Mount Dersa. The architecture in Tétouan is a harmonious and fascinating blend of Arabic and Spanish styles, reflecting the town’s bicultural ancestry. Depart the pier for a drive of approximately one-and-a-a-quarter hours through the Rif Mountains to Tétouan.

On arrival, continue on foot to see the elegant exterior of the Royal Palace at Place Hassan II, taking in its wide esplanade, Arab-Islamic architecture and ornate gate. Your guide will lead you on an uphill walk through this historic area, largely unchanged since Roman times. To visit inside Hercules Cave, you will need to negotiate a very steep slope with no handrail into and out of the cave, therefore we have graded this excursion as Moderate. You will spend approximately 15 minutes at Cap Spartel for photos, 30 minutes at the refreshment venue and 30 minutes at Hercules Caves.
