Explore the scenery, history and culture of the British Isles
Cruise across the Celtic Sea to Ringaskiddy, gateway to the historic city of Cork, where attractions include St Fin Barre’s Cathedral and the 18th-century English Market. On the Isle of Man, with its Celtic and Norse influences, traditional horse-drawn trams run along the seafront promenade and the island’s history is documented at the Manx Museum. Visit Belfast, Northern Ireland’s cultural capital city, a showcase for the arts and birthplace of HMS Titanic. At the heart of the city, the cobbled streets of the Cathedral Quarter are overlooked by colourful murals, trendy street bars and enticing restaurants.
This all-inclusive cruise of the British Isles in 2026 continues north to Scotland. Admire the mountain vistas surrounding Ullapool, set on the shores of Loch Broom it is the perfect base from which to explore the scenic north-west Highlands. On the island of Orkney, trace 5000 years of history through its Viking settlements, ancient stone circles and Neolithic village, before returning to mainland Scotland to visit Aberdeen. This exciting new port of call for Saga Cruises boasts a wealth of attractions, from the world-renowned Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum to the historic gems of Old Aberdeen, such as 14th-century St Machar’s Cathedral and King’s College.

A charming former fishing village with centuries of tradition, Ringaskiddy is situated on the western side of Cork harbour, south of Cobh. Visit the historic city of Cork, whose attractions include the Victorian Gothic St Fin Barre’s Cathedral and the 18th-century English Market, a covered food market.

A visit to County Cork would not be complete without a visit to Blarney Castle with its famous stone. The 600-year-old castle sits amid 60 acres of gardens and parklands, including the poison garden, home to some of the world’s most dangerous and toxic plants. The Blarney Stone, located at the top of the castle tower, is said to give the gift of eloquence to those who kiss it.

Set in the middle of the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man is a self-governing kingdom designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Horse-drawn trams run along the seafront promenade and nearby is the Manx Museum, home to an extensive collection of artefacts documenting the history of the island. The ruined 11th-century Peel Castle is located on the island’s west coast and to the north is the Isle of Man Motor Museum.

Having enjoyed a 21st-century rejuvenation, Northern Ireland’s capital, Belfast, is fast becoming a celebrated haven for literature, art, music and theatre – the Cathedral Quarter is at the city’s cultural heart and well worth a visit. The city also boasts a rich seafaring history and it was here that the ill-fated RMS Titanic was built. Today visitors can explore Titanic Belfast, which narrates the story of the White Star ocean liner.

Enjoying a picturesque position, nestled on the shores of Loch Broom and surrounded by rugged mountains, Ullapool is a small village, originally founded as a herring port in 1788. It is a perfect base from which to explore the scenic north-west Highlands.

An archipelago of mostly flat, green-topped islands ringed with red sandstone cliffs and sandy beaches, the Orkneys lie due north of John O’ Groats. Although remote, these rugged and unspoilt islands offer a rich history and are home to the oldest and best-preserved Neolithic site in Europe, Skara Brae. Kirkwall is the largest town and capital, where you can visit the medieval St Magnus Cathedral or delve into the islands’ fascinating Viking heritage.
