South America boasts incredible scenery and vibrant cities which hum with the rhythms of samba and tango music, which you’ll discover on this exciting new tour.
You spend your first three nights in one of Brazil’s most colourful cities, Rio de Janeiro, where you can admire panoramic views of the city from Corcovado Mountain, stand at the feet of the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer and go behind the scenes of the iconic Carnival.
Then after a short flight you’ll have the chance to walk alongside the cascading waterfalls of Iguazu before your tour continues to Argentina where you’ll have the chance to discover the attractions of Buenos Aires during a three-night stay.

Day 1 UK-Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
After taking our included UK door-to-door travel service, fly overnight from the UK to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Day 2 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Arrive in the morning and transfer to the locally rated 4-star Arena Copacabana Hotel for the next three nights.
With its famous carnival and wonderful museums, stunning botanical gardens, sprawling favelas and iconic Christ the Redeemer, the vibrant city of Rio offers much to discover. Get to know the other members of your group at a welcome drinks reception this evening.
Day 3 Corcovado Mountain
This morning you’ll enjoy spectacular views as you ascend the Corcovado Mountain via a cogwheel train. At the summit you can stand beside Rio De Janeiro’s iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer which overlooks the bay. Following your descent you’ll be taken to view some of the city’s most beautiful beaches – Copacabana, with its golden sands, and Ipanema, lined with chic restaurants and boutiques.
This afternoon look forward to an included excursion which lifts the lid on the iconic carnival. Enjoy a welcoming caipirinha before joining a guided tour at the Grande Rio Samba School. Learn about the history of samba and the carnival and view some of the breathtaking costumes - perhaps even trying one on for size! Afterwards you can take part in a dance and percussion workshop focused on the sounds and styles of carnival. B
Day 4 Rio's Olympic Boulevard
Prior to hosting the 2016 Olympic games, Rio underwent considerable revitalisation which you’ll see for yourself as you visit the new Port Zone for a stroll along the Olympic Boulevard with its impressive wall of murals representing each country that took part. You’ll also visit the Museum of Art of Rio de Janeiro and the Museum of Tomorrow – a science and experimental museum, regarded as one of the world’s most extraordinary buildings.
This afternoon you’re in for a treat as you will transfer to the Casa da Dança, a dance school belonging to renowned Brazilian ballroom dancer Carlinhos de Jesus. Take part in a group lesson to learn some authentic Brazilian moves. Your evening is at leisure. B
Day 5 Rio de Janeiro-Foz do Iguacu
On your final morning in Rio you may be tempted to join an optional half-day excursion to Sugar Loaf Mountain, another of the city’s great symbols.
Later you will fly to Foz do Iguaçu and then transfer to the locally rated 4-star Recanto Cataratas Hotel for a two-night stay. The city of Foz do Iguaçu sits near the beautiful Iguazu Falls which span both the borders of Brazil and Argentina, making it one of the world’s widest waterfalls. B
Day 6 Foz do Iguacu
Today you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Brazilian side of the Falls. From this side, you’ll get a much better idea of the full size and magnificence of the Falls, and conditions for photography are especially good in the morning – so have your camera at the ready!
You can walk for one-and-a-half kilometres along a paved walk towards the rim of the Falls, enjoying a superb view across to the far side. This takes you to the section known as the Floriano Falls. A viewing platform can take you right to the edge of one of the lower waterfalls..
Next you’ll head to Argentina’s Iguazú National Park where you’ll be able to see more of the falls and take the Ecological Jungle Train to the Falls Observation point known as ‘The Devil’s Throat.’ B
Day 7 Foz do Iguacu-Buenos Aires
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires where you spend the next three nights at the the locally rated 4-star Hotel Kenton Palace Buenos Aires.
An optional excursion this evening allows you to step inside an authentic Peña to rub shoulders with local dancers on the floor. B
Day 8 Buenos Aires
Enjoy an included sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires this morning. See the Plaza de Mayo, the political heart of the city, with the Presidential Palace and the 18th-century cathedral. You also see the Plaza del Congreso, the largest in the city, and the Plaza de la República, with its 67-metre obelisk erected to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city.
Your sightseeing tour continues with a drive around the Italian quarter of La Boca where you’ll be joined onboard by a local professional dancer, who will talk about the tango traditions of the neighbourhood, the capital and Argentina itself. Look forward to hearing about the different dance styles, outfits and the dos and don’ts of the dance before viewing the elegant residential districts of La Recoleta and Palermo and returning to your hotel.
Spend this afternoon at leisure, relaxing at your hotel or exploring the city on your own. This evening look forward to trying your own hands (and feet) at the tango. You’ll be whisked from your hotel to a one-hour private lesson at a dance studio learn more about the history, trends and styles of dancing.
Afterwards you can look forward putting your new-found skills on display at an authentic Milonga club where you can share the dance floor with locals. Entrance and your first drink (water, soft drink, wine or beer) are included. B
Day 9 Buenos Aires
Spend the day as you choose, perhaps revisit the affluent Recoleta area with its fascinating cemetery where national icons such as Eva Perón rest in extravagant tombs. Tonight you can look forward to dinner and a performance of the sultry tango at a local restaurant. B, D
Day 10 Buenos Aires-UK
The final day of your holiday is at leisure. You might wish to join an optional dance lesson for the final time. Later transfer to the airport for your overnight flight to the UK. B

Visiting an authentic Peña
Buenos Aires is famous for its Tango, but it is not the only Argentine musical genre, there are many more, like Chamamé, Zamba or Chacarera. Step off the tourist trail and spend a night at a Peña – a local club where Porteños gather to play and enjoy folk music. Transfers, admission and your first drink (water, soft drink, wine or beer) are included.

Sugar Loaf Mountain
Your excursion starts with a coach tour of the downtown business centre of Rio with its towering skyscrapers, Imperial palace and other notable buildings. Afterwards, you’ll head for Flamengo Park where you’ll board a cable car to travel 1,200 feet to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. From here you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the area including the Maciço da Tijuca and Corcovado mountains.
