Day 2 Denver
Denver is where city slickers meet the great outdoors. Here, high-rise buildings are set against the magnificent Rocky Mountains.
You can enjoy all the perks of city life; great restaurants, lively bars, and a thriving art scene, yet the wilderness of the American West is at your fingertips.
We enjoy a tour of the city this morning.
Day 3 Rocky Mountaineer (Denver to Glenwood Springs)
Rocky Mountaineer is famed for its unrivalled luxury rail experiences through some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. You’ll carve through rugged canyons, glide by the Colorado River and cross over the Continental Divide.
The journey is brought to life through vibrant storytelling from local experts and regionally inspired cuisine from Rocky Mountaineer’s award-winning culinary team. It’s truly unforgettable.
We stop for the night in Glenwood Springs before doing it all again tomorrow.
Day 4 Rocky Mountaineer (Glenwood Springs to Moab) to Arches National Park
We board Rocky Mountaineer this morning for the second leg of our journey, taking us across the Colorado-Utah border. Watch in wonder as the scenery changes to the iconic hoodoos and spires the area around Moab is known for.
But the day doesn’t end there; this afternoon we make our way by coach to Arches National Park, where over 2,000 giant natural red sandstone arches sweep over 73,000 acres of wilderness. You’re sure to lose all perspective on size before long.
You stay at Best Western Plus Canyonlands (3*), Hyatt Place Moab (3*) or Aarchway Inn (3*)
Day 5 Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park is another remarkable stretch of scenery. It feels like a vision of ancient earth in front of your very eyes and we explore this majestic parkland to its fullest today.
Day 6 Bryce Canyon National Park to Bryce
We wend our way to Bryce Canyon National Park today. The park is famed for its rich sunset-coloured spires (known as hoodoos) and magnificent natural horseshoe-shaped amphitheatres - all offset by tracts of evergreen forest.
Day 7 Zion National Park to Springdale
Zion National Park is renowned for its soaring monoliths and echoing canyons.
We spend the day taking in its barren and unforgiving yet completely captivating landscapes.
Day 8 Lake Powell to Williams
Welcome to the wild, wild west. We arrive in Williams this evening after a stop at Lake Powell, an area of spectacular natural scenery in north Arizona.
Williams is a small town with a big warm western heart. Take a wander through the town to reveal charming historic buildings and watch classic Cadillacs patrolling the roads (it’s also the last stop on the famed Route 66).
Day 9 Grand Canyon National Park
Williams is also famed as the gateway to the Grand Canyon and today is dedicated to this undoubted wonder of the natural world. We board the vintage rail cars of the Grand Canyon Railway for a train ride with a western twist.
The Grand Canyon is a colossal gorge carved by the Colorado River that is truly inspiring, with panoramic views of outstanding beauty. There’s no better way to view it than from the air and you’ll have the opportunity to take to the skies in an incredible optional helicopter flight.
Day 10 Kingman to Las Vegas
We’ll visit Kingman this morning - a famed stop along iconic Route 66 - before continuing to the oasis of indulgence in the heart of the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas. Here, the lines between reality and fantasy become blurred and you’ll come away wondering if it was all just a mirage after all.
We’ll tour the city together this afternoon.
Day 11 Las Vegas
Today is yours to spend as you please and you don’t need to be a high roller or slots whizz to have fun here. Perhaps watch the famed Bellagio fountain display, visit Fremont Street - the ‘original’ Las Vegas - or simply walk along The Strip to soak up all the weird and wonderful sights.
Alternatively, you might like to join one of our optional excursions to Death Valley or the Hoover Dam.
Day 12 Day 12 Las Vegas to UK
You’ll have most of the day free to make any last discoveries in Las Vegas.
Late afternoon, we transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
Day 13 UK
Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
