Day 2 Boston
Day 3 Boston
Today is free for you to explore. An easy, walkable city, it is worth taking your time to wander, keeping your eye out for the details and the odd quirk of architecture such as the brass plates and gas lamps.
Renowned for its thriving arts scene, much-celebrated sports teams like the Red Sox, superb shopping centre, exquisite seafood restaurants and a highly esteemed university that keeps the city’s energy youthful, there’s plenty to fill your day.
Day 4 Plymouth to Falmouth, Cape Cod
We depart Boston this morning, travelling south to Plymouth, America’s hometown, where it all started back in 1620 with the landing of the Mayflower.
You’re free to explore the town of 300-year-old restored homes or take an optional excursion to Plimoth Patuxet Museums. Here, life on the early settlement is played out before you in this fully functioning village.
Later this afternoon, we transfer to our hotel in Falmouth, Cape Cod.
Day 5 Cape Cod
We spend today getting to know Cape Cod. Tour the pristine beaches, passing through the picturesque clapboard village of Chatham, and visit multi-cultural Provincetown.
Later, we return to Falmouth, where the remainder of the day is free.
Day 6 Martha’s Vineyard
This morning we catch the ferry for a short crossing to Martha’s Vineyard, popular with film stars, politicians and creative minds.
In Oak Bluffs, you’ll find bustling tourist shops, fine sandy beaches, an antique working carousel and colourful little gingerbread cottages at the Methodist Campgrounds.
We return to Falmouth where the evening is free, offering the chance to sample the range of dining opportunities just a short walk away.
Day 7 Newport to Mystic
We head to Rhode Island and the city of Newport - the summer playground for America’s barons of industry in the Gilded Age. Mansions built here as ‘summer cottages’ line Bellevue Avenue and we’ll visit one of the most famous and the grandest of all - The Breakers. It was a symbol of the Vanderbilt family’s social and financial power in turn of the century America and is home to spectacular art and opulence.
After free time we’ll continue to Mystic, nestled in the leafy green and blue between New York and Boston - the Eastern slice of Connecticut known as Mystic Country.
The rest of your day is free to explore, or maybe choose an optional excursion to Mystic Seaport, a museum capturing Mystic’s maritime past.
Day 8 New Haven to New York
Today’s first stop is Bishop’s Orchards, one of the last few remaining farms from Guilford’s agricultural heritage.
Using traditions that began at the original 52-acre farm purchased in 1871, each generation has both built on the successes and evolved. We’ll take a tour of the charming apple orchards and taste some of their excellent products.
Next, we’ll head to New Haven, a quintessential New England college town and we’ll take a tour of one of America’s great institutions - Yale University. Enjoy some free time before we depart for New York City.
On arrival the evening is free.
Day 9 - 10 New York
We start our morning getting to know this iconic city, on a tour led by a local guide. They’ll impart their inside knowledge and we’ll pass by some of the most famous sights, including Central Park, Broadway and the Empire State Building.
The rest of the day and all of day 10 is free to explore in the city that never sleeps. Maybe head to Fifth Avenue for some shopping, explore the theatres and lights of Times Square, wander through Greenwich Village or just stroll through the sprawling acres of Central Park. There’s so much to see and do in this city, you’ll easily fill your time. Optional excursions will be available too.
Day 11 New York to UK
Enjoy some more free time this morning before we transfer to the airport for your overnight return flight to the UK.
Day 12 UK
Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
