Day 1 UK to Calgary

After taking Saga's included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, depart for your flight to Calgary where you are met and taken to the locally rated 4-star Residence Inn Downtown (3Q), which is located in the central Beltline district of this cosmopolitan city in the foothills of the spectacular Rocky Mountains.

Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, lounge bar, and fitness centre. Each of the air-conditioned bedrooms has a telephone, television, and hairdryer. Dinner is not included tonight so you're free to dine out wherever you like.

Day 2 Calgary to Banff

Cable car to Sulphur Mountain

Today enjoy an included gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain.

Spend a two-night stay at the locally rated 4-star Royal Canadian Lodge (4Q). Right on Banff’s main street, the hotel is within walking distance of shops and restaurants, and has a restaurant, a mineral pool, a hot tub and a steam room. All rooms have a television, telephone, kettle, coffee maker, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer, bathrobe, safe, iron and ironing board.

You'll be able to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. A number of optional excursions may be available; your tour manager will be happy to provide details. B, D

Day 3 Banff

Banff National Park

Included excursion to Banff National Park. You may have the chance to take an optional helicopter flight over the Rockies. B

Day 4 Banff to Jasper

Today you travel to Jasper National Park, a journey of 290km taking approximately four hours, stopping en route at beautiful Lake Louise.

Often called the Jewel of the Rockies, its jade-coloured waters reflect the Victoria Glacier and the mountains around it. Continue your journey along the Icefields Parkway, perhaps the most exciting stretch of highway in Canada. The Icefields Parkway runs from Lake Louise to Jasper, right through the heart of the Rockies. It is a procession of huge snow-capped peaks, cobalt-blue lakes, and lush forests. You'll take an included Ice Explorer ride over part of the Athabasca Glacier. Snow and ice surround you, enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape.

You arrive at Jasper National Park late this afternoon, where you'll spend the next two nights at the locally rated 3-star Sawridge Inn (3Q), about one mile from the town centre and railway station. An outstanding feature of this hotel is its three-storey atrium, which has an open fireplace. The Sawridge Inn’s facilities include an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, outdoor hot tub, two restaurants, a lounge bar and a gift shop. For an additional charge, guests may use the Mountain Wellness Spa, where various health and beauty treatments are available. All guest rooms have a television, direct-dial telephone, coffee maker, fridge, hairdryer and ironing facilities. Each room offers wireless high-speed internet access free of charge. B, D

Day 5 Jasper

Day 7 Vancouver

Journey over Fraser Canyon

Enjoy breakfast on board Rocky Mountaineer, whilst continuing your rail adventure through breathtaking scenery as you journey to Vancouver.

Stay overnight at the locally rated 4-star Georgian Court Hotel (4Q), which is set in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s ‘Theatre and Sports Entertainment District’ and is just steps away from Robson Street’s chic shops and Yaletown’s charming restaurants, as well as many other local attractions. The hotel has a fitness centre with a fully equipped exercise room, whirlpool and a steam room. Each of the 180 guest rooms has air-conditioning and heating, a television, direct-dial telephone, clock radio, kettle, coffee-making facilities, mini fridge, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. B, L

The Rocky Mountaineer

The Rocky Mountaineer began service in 1990. You can experience a memorable journey aboard this train as it winds its way through the awe-inspiring scenery of the Rockies.
