Dundee is renowned for its sense of style, maritime heritage and fascinating museums and galleries, as you can discover on this Saga short break on Tayside.
Head to the city’s rejuvenated riverside, where jute mills stood side by side with factories and the docks were filled with trading ships during Dundee’s industrial heyday.
The city has reinvented itself as a stylish tourist destination and the long-anticipated opening of the spectacular V&A Dundee museum adds a final touch to the area’s rebirth – and you can look forward to a special tour to see the array of exhibits for yourself.
In addition the nearby Gothic Revival façade of the fascinating McManus Galleries houses centuries of Tayside history. Look out for ancient log boats unearthed from the River Tay, portraits by acclaimed Scottish artist Henry Raeburn, and the huge skeleton of the Tay Whale, a nod to the city’s whaling past.
Set in a former textile mill with a landmark bell tower, the hotel boasts all the contemporary comforts you could wish for but also reflects its industrial heritage with bare-brick walls, hardwood timber floors and simple, pendant lighting.
