The town of Solihull is well positioned, orbited by Birmingham and Coventry with the towns of Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington Spa further afield. Although approximately seven miles from the bustling city centre of Birmingham, around two-thirds of the district is protected green belt land, reflected in the town's motto 'Urbs in Rure' or 'town in the country’. The High Street offers a good range of shops and shopping centres, and still retains some early buildings and St Alphege's Church, with its impressive steeple. There are also a number of excellent parks in the area. Travel just six miles from the town and you come to the village of Meriden, reputedly the centre of England.
"I was lucky to meet my all-time hero Frank Sinatra, who inspired me to share my passion for film musicals through light-hearted performances and tales of my travels," says Robert, who played Ol' Blue Eyes in the original cast of The Rat Pack. Discovered by the respected American singer Margaret Whiting, Robert has performed with a number of other iconic stars, including Kay Starr, Steve Ross, Rosemary Squire and more. In 1994 he won the Best International Performer Award from the prestigious Manhattan Association of Cabarets. He's always been warmly welcomed by previous Saga guests.
Since graduating from University College London, Trevor worked extensively in the music industry in most areas. He worked closely with the bandleader Alyn Ainsworth, during which time Trevor contributed to many television shows, including Royal Variety Performances and BAFTA award shows. He has arranged the music for a number of TV series, including Wednesday at Eight, Live from the Palladium and Surprise Surprise – most recently he has worked on shows like Pop Idol and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
