If you're after peace and tranquility, Moorhill House Hotel is the one for you. It's set in woodland and is a real hideaway. Enjoy the peace and quiet of your forest location and look out for ponies and deer roaming nearby. The hotel is at the end of a private lane. Burley is the nearest village to the hotel, a 10-minute walk away. With so many tracks and paths running across the New Forest, the best way to explore the area is on foot, or bike hire can be arranged from the hotel reception. The nearest mainline train station is in Bournemouth, approximately 18 miles away, and the local train station at Brockenhurst is 10 miles away.
Discover a traditional New Forest village with a history rich in myth and folklore – think dragons, witches and smugglers – with a pretty crossroads at its heart. Sitting on the western side of the National Park, the village has a variety of cafes, pubs and gift shops, and makes a great base for exploring the area.
Visit this splendid 200-acre site, home to the Rothschild collection of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias, as well as rare shrubs and trees. Paths weave their way through a number of beautiful themed gardens within the grounds, or let the train take the strain and hop aboard the Gardens' own miniature narrow gauge steam railway for a scenic tour. The circular route runs for two kilometres and offers lovely views of the garden.
