The Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria is a 19th-century hotel near Sheffield's lively city centre offering a traditional retreat for solo travellers. Get to know your dedicated solos host and fellow guests during a welcome drink after you arrive, then enjoy dinner followed by entertainment.
On Christmas Eve an included visit to Buxton is available. The coach will pass through scenic countryside and you will have free time to explore this popular spa town. We return for a late light buffet lunch. This afternoon, you may wish to walk into Sheffield city centre to the Christmas market or spend a relaxing afternoon at leisure. Meet fellow guests for a festive drink before a performance from a local choir, followed by dinner. Start Christmas Day with a Buck's Fizz breakfast then celebrate with a traditional lunch followed by afternoon tea and entertainment this evening. Perhaps explore Sheffield with your companions on Boxing Day and discover some of its many parks and gardens. A farewell dinner and entertainment will round off your Christmas break. Bid your new friends goodbye as you depart after breakfast the following day.

Situated at the end of a private drive and just under a mile or about twenty minutes’ walk from the city centre, the 4-star Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria (4Q) (formerly the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria) is a Grade II-listed building offering charm and character while being tastefully and sympathetically decorated throughout. Being just seven miles from the Peak District, it is also wonderfully suited to visit the national park.
All 105 rooms come with a private bath and/or shower, a television, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safe, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi for Saga guests. Room service is available for an extra charge, and for a touch of luxury and a great night’s sleep you can choose whether you would like a firm or soft pillow from the pillow menu.

Approaching from the M1, exit at Junction 33 and follow signs for Sheffield City Centre for about six miles. On reaching Park Square roundabout follow signs for A61N. Exit the roundabout in the far right lane of the A61N Barnsley. Follow tourism signs for the hotel and turn right onto Furnival Road at the first set of traffic lights (50 yards from roundabout). The hotel is situated on your immediate left, located at the end of a private drive. If you use a satellite navigation system, please direct it to Victoria Station Road, as due to a glitch in the satellite system, using the postcode will not take you to the hotel!
There will be free parking at the hotel for Saga guests. Please register your vehicle when you check-in.
The closest rail station to the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria is Sheffield Railway Station, just under a mile from the hotel and about a 20-minute walk. Details of train services may be obtained from National Rail Enquiries on 03457 484950 or through their website. Taxis are available outside the station and will cost approximately £6.
By National Express coach

Transfers to and from the hotel are not included. Your Saga host will meet you on arrival at the hotel. If you wish to pre book a taxi the hotel recommends City Taxis, telephone number 0114 239 3939. City Taxis are not associated with Saga, any contract is between you and them. All queries about their service must be referred directly to them.
Once you arrive Your room will be ready to check into from 2pm onwards. If you arrive earlier than this, your room may not be ready. Porterage of luggage from reception to your room on arrival and from your room to reception on departure has been arranged by Saga.
Join your fellow travellers and Saga host for a scenic coach ride to Buxton. Nestled in the centre of the beautiful Peak District, it is famous for its thermal waters, ornamental gardens and Georgian and Victorian architecture. Enjoy free time in this charming town, perhaps browsing the independent shops or enjoying a drink in the welcoming cafes, before travelling back to your hotel.
