Roses, Costa Brava
The town of Roses lies in a natural bay to the north of the Costa Brava. It has a long maritime heritage stretching back to antiquity and is today the home of a large fishing fleet. The town is perhaps best known for its Blue Flag sandy beaches, while within the town you will find a choice of shops and restaurants. There is an appealing beachfront promenade while beyond the town lie archaeological sites including the fortress of La Cuiudadela and the Natural Parks of Marismas del Ampurdan and the Cabo de Creus park.
Day 1 UK-Barcelona-Roses
Fly to Barcelona and transfer to the town of Roses where you will stay for the next seven nights at the locally rated 3-star Prestige Hotel Coral Platja, adjacent to the beach. D
Day 2 Cadaques
After a short walk to Port Castell Santa Margarida, 1.7 kilometres away, set off on an included hour-long boat trip this morning to the village of Cadques. Once ashore, a guided tour explores Cadaques, with its enchanting old town of cobbled streets and hilltop church with a magnificent gilded altarpice. The beautiful landscape here led to it being popular with artists including Picasso and Salvador Dali, who stayed here as a child. After a little free time to explore further, step aboard your boat and return to Roses, with the afternoon at leisure. B, D
Day 3 Beziers, France
Travel to Beziers in France this morning in the company of your guide. On arrival join your boat for a cruise along the Canal du Midi with lunch included. See the famous ‘staircase’ locks of Fonserances, the 17th century Malpas tunnel and more as you discover part of this 150-mile long canal constructed in the 17th century. Afterwards, return to your hotel by coach. B, L, D
Day 4 Roses, Spain.
Enjoy today at leisure. Perhaps relax at your hotel, visit the beach or stroll into the town of Roses with its shops and restaurants, around 350 yards away. B, D
Day 5 Besalu and Banyoles
This morning enjoy a tour of the medieval town of Besalu with its cobbled streets lined with early houses, 12th-century fortified bridge, churches and more. Travel south to the town of Banyoles by coach, where a 40-minute boat trip on the Lake of Banyoles awaits you. This large natural lake with its mountain backdrop to the north is the largest in Catalonia. B, D
Day 6 Barcelona
Board your coach for the two-hour drive to the city of Barcelona. This famous city has a host of attractions to discover ranging from the architect Anton Gaudi’s famous Sagrada Familia and Park Güell, to the tree-lined La Rambla with its cafes and shops, and the old Gothic quarter. Look forward to an hour-and-half boat trip during your visit when you’ll explore the harbour of Barcelona from the water, learn about the history and importance of the port, and see highlights including the Maremagnum, the Sagrada Familia, the Olympic Port, the Hotel arts and Mapfre Tower. Afterwards, enjoy some time at leisure to explore the city independently. B, D

Travel by coach to the airport for your return flight to the UK. B
