The hotel is only 1 mile from the beach and one and a half miles from the bustling centre of Puerto de la Cruz, where a wealth of good shops, cafes and restaurants can be found. This family-friendly resort has a vibrant atmosphere and is popular with holidaymakers from across Europe.

Accommodation

All 298 spacious, north-facing bedrooms are set across 14 floors, and have a balcony with sitting area and ocean views, and a bath with overhead shower. The laundry service is at an extra charge. Smoking is not permitted in outside areas such as the gardens, terraces and pool bar.

You can upgrade to a Senator room (for a supplement, subject to availability) which includes guaranteed accommodation on the upper floors (11 to 14), daily national newspapers, daily turn-down service, bathrobe and slippers.

The lively main restaurant serves buffet-style meals and features a show cooking area where you can watch the chefs in action. The pool bar is open during the day and the lobby bar open in the evening depending on the weather.

The exclusive VIP Club Lounge, with tea and coffee-making facilities, is conveniently situated between the two.

The restaurant is likely to be busier during peak times of the year and you may have to queue to enjoy the live show cooking.

Climate

El Jardín de Aclimatación de la Orotava and the lost garden of El Sitio Litre

Established in 1788, this garden contains figs, palms and flowering plants such as frangipani and poinsettia. There is also a 100-foot-tall Ficus dealbata. Later you visit the private garden of El Sitio Litre with its paths, pergolas, fountains and seats, which have been restored and a new irrigation system introduced.

Icod de los Vinos and Valley Guerra

See the world-famous dragon tree, estimated to be between 1,000 and 3,000 years old, in Icod de los Vinos, Visit the town of Garichio, whose harbour was partially destroyed by the volcanic eruption of 1706. Explore the local museum here to learn more about the eruption, and see a small garden that has been created in the island's fertile nort-west tip followed by a trip to Valley Guerra.

Botanical walk, cave village and El Sauzal park

Enjoy mountain walks through forests and see wild flora including Canary lavenders, artemesias and holly, all quite different from those grown at home. You may also see the rare form of Canarina with its chestnut-brown, yellow-centred bellflowers. Explore the houses in the cave village of Chinamada, which have no side or rear walls, and in the afternoon, continue to El Sauzal and the park to enjoy stunning views.
