La Laguna
Drive along the old road through Sauzal and Valle Guerra to the Socorro viewing point. You stop here before continuing to La Laguna, the former capital and oldest town on the island. Famous for its university, La Laguna was founded in 1496 and takes its name from a lake that has since dried up. You enjoy a tour of the old city, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with free time to go shopping or buy refreshments.
