Black vultures, Eleonora’s falcons and Balearic warblers...

With over 300 recorded bird species, Majorca is one of the best birdwatching destinations in the Mediterranean. Lying along a major migratory flyway, Majorca offers a diverse array of habitats perfect for birds stopping to refuel en route to breeding grounds in Europe, or to overwinter in Africa. Black and griffon vultures soar above the imposing Serra de Tramunata mountain range in the north, whilst saltpans and wetlands provide a home for flamingo purple heron, nightingales, and a variety of migrating waders.

Crag martins, blue rock thrush, shearwaters and Audouin’s gulls make use of the rugged cliff faces around the coast, and arable and scrubland in the south of the island provides a vital habitat for hoopoes, stone curlew, crossbill and the endemic Baleraric warbler. So pack your binoculars for the chance to tick off a lifer or two on your list...
