Day 1 UK to Ljubljana to Bled
Our VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Ljubljana.
On arrival we transfer to the village of Bled.
Day 2 Bled to Bled Countryside
We begin with an orientation walk around Bled. The glacial Lake Bled, surrounded by mountains and forests, forms part of the Julian Alps and you’ll get that fairytale feeling on your first glimpse of Bled Island. This tiny tear-shaped island is home to a striking 15th-century church.
This afternoon we’ll head out to explore a combination of scenic countryside and Slovene cultural heritage - from the Završnica Valley and Karavanke mountain range to learning the secrets of Slovenia’s beekeeping tradition.
We’ll pass through small, pretty villages as well as the town of Radovljica, which boasts one of the best-preserved medieval town squares.
Day 3 Lake Bohinj
Our included excursion today takes us to Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest glacial lake, nestled within the Bohinj valley. Prepare to be captivated by the stunning mountainous scenery and take some time to appreciate the peace and quiet of this serene lake.
We’ll then drive through the upper valley, take a relaxing walk in the alpine village of Stara Fuzina, and enjoy a tasty snack of Bohinj cheese, bread and dried fruit. All this before reaching spectacular Bohinj itself and the medieval Church of St John the Baptist with its fine Middle Age frescoes.
Day 4 Bled
You are at leisure today to enjoy your hotel and surroundings; or perhaps take an optional excursion to the Julian Alps for spectacular views of unspoiled natural beauty.
Day 5 Bled
A day at leisure. Or why not enjoy a ‘Taste of Slovenia’ optional excursion to take a boat cruise on the emerald River Soca, through an alpine valley.
Day 6 Bled
Today is free, or you can join an optional guided excursion to the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.
You’ll experience a funicular railway trip up to Ljubljana Castle and take in far-reaching views of the town below and distant snowy mountains.
Day 7 Bled
Join an optional excursion to Postojna Cave - a fascinating cave system of stalagmites and stalactites that create beautiful naturally occurring patterns. After gazing at these fascinating formations, you’ll continue to Predjama Castle, built into the mouth of a cave, standing defiant and impenetrable 123 metres up a cliff.
Or, alternatively, take a ‘Trieste and Lipica Stud Farm’ trip to visit the Italian port loved by James Joyce and see the world-famous Lipizzaner horses.
Day 8 Bled to Ljubljana to UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
