A colourful garden of conservation
Located only three kilometres from Funchal City centre you'll find the famous Botanical Gardens of Madeira.
Covering an area of 35,000 square metres, the array of 2,500 colourful flowers and exotic plants have been attracting visitors for more than 50 years.
The garden boasts five distinct areas, each of which preserves species for future generations. You can look forward to seeing indigenous and endemic plants, Himalayan and tropical plants, and South American variations, as well as tropical and subtropical fruits such as mangoes, papaya, and even coffee and sugar cane!
The garden is also home to exotic birds, including dwarf parrots and parakeets.
