Meet your tour manager at the airport and fly to Malta. On arrival, travel to Sliema where you’ll stay for five nights, on half-board basis, at the locally rated 4-star Diplomat Hotel. This evening enjoy a welcome drink and dinner where you can start getting to know your fellow travellers. D

This morning, look forward to a full-day tour of historic Valletta. Walk in the footsteps of the Knights of St John with a visit to the impressive Co-Cathedral and Archaeology Museum. Pause for lunch at a restaurant of your choice then visit the Lascaris War Rooms and The Malta Experience, where you'll learn about the island's long and turbulent history. B, D
Today you may be able to join an optional excursion to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, followed by a Grand Harbour cruise. Alternatively, you may like to simply relax at your hotel and enjoy a stroll along the seafront promenade. B, D
Spend the day at leisure. Perhaps join an optional excursion to explore the megalithic temple complex of Hagar Qim or you may like to take a stroll along the promenade to St Julian's, with its pretty bay, sandy beach and choice of bars and restaurants. B, D
After a relaxing morning at leisure catch the ferry to Gozo this afternoon. Spend the next five nights on a half-board basis at the 4-star Calypso Hotel. Situated at the water's edge overlooking Marsalforn Bay, the hotel is a stone's throw from the shores of the Mediterranean. B, D
On your first full day in Gozo you can look forward to an included excursion to the capital, Victoria. Here you'll visit the historic Citadel whose hilltop position affords stunning views of the lush countryside and the Gordan Lighthouse. You'll also be able to visit the cathedral, and Period House which is found inside one the finest surviving houses in the Citadel. There will be free time for you to have lunch wherever you please (at your own cost).
Afterwards, enjoy an included visit to the majestic Rotunda Church in Xewkija before returning to Marsalforn for a guided walk along the coastal salt pans. Dating from 1740, they are still in use today, producing several tons of sea salt every year. B, D
Spend the day at leisure relaxing by the hotel’s lovely rooftop swimming pool, or for something a little more energetic you could take a hike through the countryside. B, D

After your action-packed few days, you'll have a final day to spend as you please. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner with your group. B, D

Grand Harbour cruise
Drive to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk where colourful boats bob in the harbour and fishermen still mend their own nets. Afterwards, sit back and relax during a leisurely cruise around Valletta's harbour and absorb the fascinating sights and vibrant atmosphere of this beautiful city. You'll explore the creeks and fortifications around the harbour, while a detailed commentary reveals the history of Valletta and the Three Cities.

Visit the megalithic temple complex built between 3600-3200 BC, making it older than the pyramids of Egypt! Afterwards, enjoy a photo stop on the cliff paths above the Blue Grotto caverns to see the attractive rock arches and intense colour of the water beneath them.

Mosta and Mdina
Begin your excursion with a ferry trip to Malta and drive to Mosta in the centre of the island. Here you can catch a glimpse of the Church of St Mary, thanks to its vast dome which is one of the largest in the world! Your trip continues to Mdina, a beautiful city of honey-coloured stone, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the late 17th-century Mdina Cathedral. The city has traditionally been home to the wealthiest islanders, which explains the array of grand buildings found here. You’ll return to your hotel in Gozo in time for dinner.

Diplomat Hotel, Sliema, Malta
This locally rated 4-star family-run hotel sits by a roadside promenade overlooking a rocky beach in the heart of Sliema, and it's just 100 metres to the nearest shops. All bedrooms have air-conditioning, and French doors. Regular buses depart from central Sliema to nearby St Julian's and to Valletta.
Hotel Calypso, Marsalforn, Gozo
The locally rated 4-star Hotel Calypso is situated at the water's edge overlooking Marsalforn Bay, and the hotel prides itself on serving food made from only fresh, local ingredients. All air-conditioned bedrooms have a balcony or terrace. The hotel offers a range of activities, including sea kayaking, diving and horse riding (extra charge).
