Day 1 UK to Sliema

Balluta Bay in Sliema, Malta

Fly to Malta and travel to Sliema for five nights, on half-board basis, at the locally rated 4-star Diplomat Hotel. D

Mdina, Malta's ancient capital

An included tour of the UNESCO-listed Tarxien Temples and the prehistoric site of Ghar Dalam awaits you this afternoon. B, D

Day 3 Valletta

Valletta Old Town, Malta

This morning, look forward to a full-day tour of historic Valletta. Walk in the footsteps of the Knights of St John with a visit to the impressive Co-Cathedral and Archaeology Museum. Pause for lunch at a restaurant of your choice then visit the Lascaris War Rooms and The Malta Experience, where you'll learn about the island's long and turbulent history. B, D

Day 4 Sliema

The bay in Marsaxlokk

Today you may be able to join an optional excursion to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, followed by a Grand Harbour cruise. Alternatively, you may like to simply relax at your hotel and enjoy a stroll along the seafront promenade. B, D

Day 5 Sliema

Spend the day at leisure. Perhaps join an optional excursion to explore the megalithic temple complex of Hagar Qim or you may like to take a stroll along the promenade to St Julian's, with its pretty bay, sandy beach and choice of bars and restaurants. B, D


Day 6 Malta to Gozo

Blue Grotto caverns

After a relaxing morning at leisure catch the ferry to Gozo this afternoon. Spend the next five nights on a half-board basis at the 4-star Calypso Hotel. Situated at the water's edge overlooking Marsalforn Bay, the hotel is a stone's throw from the shores of the Mediterranean. B, D


Day 7 Gozo

Salt pans in Gozo

On your first full day in Gozo you can look forward to an included excursion to the capital, Victoria. Here you'll visit the historic Citadel whose hilltop position affords stunning views of the lush countryside and the Gordan Lighthouse. You'll also be able to visit the cathedral, and Period House which is found inside one the finest surviving houses in the Citadel. There will be free time for you to have lunch wherever you please (at your own cost). Afterwards, enjoy an included visit to the majestic Rotunda Church in Xewkija before returning to Marsalforn for a guided walk along the coastal salt pans. Dating from 1740, they are still in use today, producing several tons of sea salt every year. B, D


Day 8 Gozo

Ta'Pinu Sanctuary, Gozo Island

Spend the day at leisure relaxing by the hotel’s lovely rooftop swimming pool, or for something a little more energetic you could take a hike through the countryside. B, D


Day 9 Gozo

Spend the day at leisure or join an optional full-day excursion which travels by ferry to Malta to explore Mosta and Mdina. B, D


Day 10 Gozo

After your action-packed few days, you'll have a final day to spend as you please. B, D


Day 11 Gozo-Malta-UK

Malta

Travel by ferry to Malta and transfer to the airport for your return flight back to the UK. B

Spend the morning at leisure or perhaps join an optional excursion to the ancient temples of Hagar Qim and afterwards enjoy a photo stop at the cliffs above the Blue Grotto caverns to see intense colour of the water beneath them. This afternoon, catch the ferry to Gozo for a three-night, half-board stay at the 4-star Calypso Hotel. Situated at the water's edge overlooking Marsalforn Bay, the hotel is a stone's throw from the shores of the Mediterranean. B, D

Day 6 Gozo

Your first day in Gozo is spent enjoying an included excursion to the capital, Victoria. Here you'll visit the historic Citadel whose hilltop position affords stunning views of the lush countryside and the Gordan Lighthouse. Before lunch at leisure in Victoria, you'll also be able to visit Period House within one of the finest surviving houses in the Citadel, and the cathedral. Day 7 Gozo

Ta'Pinu Sanctuary, Gozo Island

This morning you'll head out on an included full-day tour of Gozo, starting with Ta'Pinu, Malta's national shrine. Marvel at the wonderful serenity of this basilica which houses almost 2,000 individually carved sculptures. Next you'll stop at the site of the remains of the Azure Window. The striking natural arch in the coastal rock that featured in films such as Clash of the Titans and The Count of Monte Cristo was destroyed by a 2017 storm. A spot of shopping awaits you at Fontana Cottage, where you can see lace and delicate filigree jewellery being produced, before lunch at leisure in Xlendi. Finally visit the amazing Ggantija Temples, which date back 5,000 years! B, D

Day 8 Gozo-Malta

Church of Xewkja, Gozo

Return by ferry to Malta where you'll stay at the locally rated 4-star Seashells Resort at Suncrest on the outskirts of Qawra. Enjoy a final three nights at your hotel on an all-inclusive basis, including a free bar serving local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks 12 hours a day. B, L, D

Day 9 Mosta and Mdina

Hagar Qim

Begin your half-day included excursion with a drive through Mosta in the centre of the island. Here you can catch a glimpse of the Church of St Mary, thanks to its vast dome which is one of the largest in the world! Your trip continues to Mdina, a beautiful city of honey-coloured stone, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the late 17th-century Mdina Cathedral. The city has traditionally been home to the wealthiest islanders, which explains the array of grand buildings found here. Right outside the city is the suburb of Rabat where you'll find the impressive St Paul's Catacombs. An optional afternoon our takes you from your hotel to the cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea on the other side of the Valletta Grand Harbour. The guided tour begins in Senglea where the knights first settled in 1530 and takes in Cospicua on the way to Vittoriosa where you can walk through the narrow streets and admire the church, historic buildings and auberges. Before returning to your hotel enjoy some free time at the Birgu Vittoriosa waterfront. B, L, D

Day 10 St Paul's Bay

After your action-packed few days, you'll have a final day to spend as you please. You might like to join one last optional excursion to the old fortified city of Vittoriosa, one of the most bombed places during the Second World War. B, L, D

Travel to the airport for your return flight back to the UK. B
