Pompeii
Mount Vesuvius has erupted several times in its long geological history. The most famous of these eruptions took place in AD 79. Ash and pumice stone rained from the sky, burying the bustling city of Pompeii. For hundreds of years, the city was lost. Then, in 1748, a group of explorers stumbled across the ancient city, perfectly preserved and telling tales of what life was like in its ancient past. Take a 15-minute train ride to Pompeii and enjoy a guided tour of the site.

Pasta tour with lunch
The small town of Gragnano is considered to be the European capital of pasta making and the layout of the medieval town was created to make the most of the mountain breezes to dry the pasta as it hung outside every shop.
Your excursion begins with a visit to an artisan producer, which has a small museum containing historic pasta-making artefacts. You will also see how the pasta is made today in the modern ‘pastificio’.
From here we will walk along an easy route through part of the Mills Valley, where there were once 13 or so mills for grinding the wheat used in pasta making. Today, these medieval structures are in ruins but it’s a picturesque walk that ends in the ancient hamlet of Borgo di Castello.
A light lunch consisting of a typical pasta dish is included, and after a stroll in the village, you return to the hotel by coach
