Day 2 Oroklini Lake-Larnaca

Larnaca Castle, Cyprus

Surfaces: Asphalt roads and cycle paths
Distance: Ten miles
Difficulty: Easy

Recently restored through the European LIFE Conservation Project, Oroklini Lake provides an ideal nesting site for many migratory birds. Following a transfer, this wetland is also a picturesque starting point for your cycling holiday. Leaving the lake and heading south, you will reach the beach of Voroklini. From there, the route follows the coastal cycle path along the beautiful seafront of Larnaca bay. Pass Larnaka Marina and follow its palm-lined promenade. You will then arrive at the city’s medieval Castle. It is a short distance to today’s finishing point, the Church of Agios Lazaros. B, L, D

Day 3 Kamares Aqueduct-Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque

Kamares Aqueduct in Larnaca

Surfaces: Asphalt roads and cycle paths
Distance: Twenty miles
Difficulty: Easy

Begin with a transfer to the Kamares Aqueduct, built in an eye-catching Roman style during the 18th century. The aqueduct carried water to Larnaca from a source six miles away for almost two hundred years until it was replaced by modern pipes in 1939. Your next wonder is a natural one – Larnaca Salt Lake, a popular haunt for approximately 85 species of bird. Your finishing point is the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque. This holy place was constructed between 1760 and 1817, enjoying a picturesque position overlooking the salt lake. B, L, D
