See Diocletian's palace in Split, explore Sarona and Trogir and visit Brac island

On this special archaeology holiday you can look forward to discovering some of Croatia’s fascinating history through its archaeology as you enjoy a series of visits to historic sites, museums and towns, as well as two included talks at the hotel from your archaeology host, who will also accompany your included visits.

Croatia was settled by the Illyrians around 1200BC, but by the 2nd century BC the Romans had made an appearance, attacking Dalmatia and defeating the Illyrians by 12AD. Towns including Narona and Trogir became Roman and in the late 2nd century AD the Emperor Diocletian started building his extraordinary palace, the remains of which stand today. Subsequently, the region of Dalmatia fell under the rule of Constantinople. During your holiday look forward to visiting Diocletians’ awe-inspiring palace, the Roman town of Narona, the island of Brac, and more, as you step back in time …
