Immerse yourself in the varied culture, traditions and natural wonders of the Indian Subcontinent

South Asia (also known as ‘The Indian Subcontinent’) has a history as deep as its mountains are high. From the snow-capped spires of Nepal’s Mount Everest to Sri Lanka’s gentle shores – it’s a region teeming with life, excitement, cultural diversity, and great, great food.

India is one of the most populous and largest countries in the world – and this is due to a plethora of ethnicities bound together by a history of ‘Indian-ness’ rather than a single cultural identity. For example, the feel, atmosphere, and food of Rajasthan, is markedly different from that of Goa. There is always more to explore, and a wealth of variety across the expansive country.

The Maldives is a paradise for sun-seekers and divers, with endless white beaches whose waters bustle with undisturbed marine life from giant turtles to dolphins. Nepal meanwhile, is home to eight of the world’s ten tallest mountains as well as an incredibly friendly and welcoming people.

Elsewhere, South Asia is home to the secretive Bhutan kingdom – a gorgeous, mountainous region with picturesque monasteries clinging to the sides of cliffs. Though tourism is limited in order to preserve its natural beauties.

See what gems you can discover in South Asia on your next Saga holiday!
