Day 1 UK-Johannesburg-Victoria Falls

After taking your included VIP door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly overnight to Victoria Falls International Airport via Johannesburg.
Day 2 Victoria Falls

Arrive at Victoria Falls airport and transfer to the 4-star Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (4Q) for a two-night stay (13 miles, 30 minutes).
The hotel borders the Zambezi National Park and overlooks a waterhole visited by elephant, buffalo and kudu. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool with deck, library, and a lounge. All 72 air-conditioned rooms have a balcony, telephone, hairdryer, fan, safe, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Later this afternoon, an included tour reveals the splendour of Victoria Falls. D
Day 3 Victoria Falls

Explore your surroundings independently today – perhaps walk across Knife-edge Bridge to appreciate the scale of this, one of the world's largest waterfalls. Later, you may glimpse hippos, crocodiles and elephants drinking at the water’s edge on an included sundowner cruise on the Zambezi. B, D
Day 4 Victoria Falls-Kasane

Travel into Botswana and on to Kasane (54 miles, 90 minutes), for a three-night stay at either the 4-star Chobe Safari Lodge (4Q) or at the 4-star Chobe Bush Lodge (4Q), depending on your departure date.
Set on the banks of the Chobe River at the edge of Chobe National Park, the lodges offers a real close-to-nature experience and you may spot crocodiles, hippos, monkeys and countless species of birds just moments away from your accommodation. Rooms are in thatched buildings overlooking the gardens and swimming pool, are air conditioned and have ceiling fans, a television, telephone, hairdryer, tea and coffee-making facilities and a safe.
This afternoon you may like to explore your surroundings or join one of the many optional excursions available, such as game drives, photo safaris and scenic flights. B, L, D
Day 5 Chobe National Park

This morning go in search of some of Africa's incredible wildlife with a game drive through Chobe National Park. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, monkeys, lions and more. This evening enjoy relaxing on board a river boat during an included sundowner cruise. If you're lucky, you may spot hippos, large herds of elephant and buffalo. B, L, D
Day 6 Chobe National Park

Look out for the 'big five' on an included safari. B, L, D
Day 7 Rovos Rail

Return to Victoria Falls where you step aboard Rovos Rail's luxurious train, an exquisitely rebuilt vintage train that embodies the age of classic rail travel. You can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and first-class accommodation during your three-night, all-inclusive journey through glorious landscapes to Zimbabwe's largest reserve, Hwange National Park. Please note that the tour manager for the first part of your holiday won't join you on the train; you'll be met by another Saga tour manager on day 10. B, D
Day 8 Rovos Rail

Disembark for an included game drive in Hwange National Park, which will bring you even closer to Africa's abundance of wildlife. Later you can enjoy the changing vistas as you continue your train journey. B, L, D
Day 9 Rovos Rail
A scenic journey across the border to South Africa takes you over the Tropic of Capricorn towards Warmbaths and Nylstroom. Stay overnight at Pyramid. B, L, D
Day 10 Rovos Rail-Pretoria-Johannesburg

Arrive in Pretoria where you disembark the train. After a city tour, transfer to the 4-star DaVinci Hotel and Suites (4Q) in Johannesburg for an overnight stay.
The contemporary hotel is located within a shopping mall, and facilities include a swimming pool, outdoor entertainment area, private art collection, restaurant, spa and gym. Rooms feature a television, minibar, tea and coffee-making facilities, and telephone. B, D
Day 11 Isandlwana

Today, transfer to Isandlwana (274 miles, five hours and 30 minutes). This picturesque area of sweeping hills and rolling plains was the site of several historical battles that shaped the history of both South Africa and Britain.
Stay for the next two nights at the 4-star Islandwana Lodge (4Q). Built from rock with a thatched roof, the lodge has a dining area, lounge, library and outdoor pool. There are 12 en suite bedrooms, each with a private balcony overlooking the mountain, battlefield and plain, and each equipped with a telephone, tea and coffee-making facilities and safe. B, D
Day 12 Isandlwana

Look forward to a full day Battlefields tour, with lunch at your lodge. You’ll visit Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, as featured in the film Zulu to see the remains of stone forts, graves and memorials from these two deadly battles. B, L, D
Day 13 Isandlwana-Durban

Travel to Durban today (186 miles, four hours), where you will stay overnight at the 4-star Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani Hotel (4Q).
Situated on the Durban beachfront, the hotel has superb facilities, with numerous restaurants and bars, great views and three swimming pools. All 734 modern rooms are equipped with a television, air-conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, an electronic safe and free Wi-Fi. South Africa's third-largest city, on the east coast, is home to a blend of colonial and art-nouveau architecture and a cosmopolitan beachfront. B, L, D
Day 14 Durban-Cape Town

Enjoy a tour of Durban to see the beautiful Botanical Gardens, the Indian Market and Juna Mosque, one of the oldest and largest in the southern hemisphere, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Cape Town (two hours).
Stay for the next two nights at the 4-star Southern Sun, The Cullinan (4Q+). The hotel is within walking distance of the famous Victoria & Albert Waterfront. Facilities include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa (extra charge). Each of the 394 air-conditioned bedrooms has a television, tea and coffee-making facilities, safe, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi. B
Day 15 Cape Of Good Hope

Enjoy a full-day tour of Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Stop at Boulders Beach to see the African penguins, and visit historic Simons Town. B, L.
Day 16 Cape Town-UK

Join a tour of Cape Town this morning to see some of the many highlights including Table Mountain and the Victoria and Alfred waterfront. Later, travel to the airport for your return overnight flight. B

Arrive in the UK for your included VIP door-to-door travel service.
Departures in May and June 2022 follow a slightly different itinerary, spending four nights aboard the Rovos Rail, with an included visit to Polokwane Nature Reserve, and arriving in Pretoria on Day 11. The rest of the tour remains unchanged.
