Day 1 UK-Cape Town

Cape Town

After taking Saga's included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly overnight to Cape Town.


Day 2 Cape Town

Cape Town

Arrive at Cape Town where you’ll stay for three nights at the locally rated 4-star Sun Square Cape Town City Bowl Hotel. D


Day 3 Cape Town

Boulders Beach

Spend the day touring the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, Africa’s most south-westerly corner. Visit Boulders Beach where 2,500 African penguins await you, then historic Simons Town, steeped in naval history. B, L, D


Day 4 Cape Town

Table Mountain

This cosmopolitan city has plenty to explore independently. Or, join an optional half-day tour taking in the Company’s Garden park, St George’s Cathedral, the South African Museum, the Parliament Buildings, the pastel-coloured homes of the Bo-Kaap and a cable-car ride to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting). Day 5 Cape Point-Somerset West

Stellenbosch

Continue to the town of Somerset West, which is overlooked by the Helderberg Mountains in the heart of the winelands, where you'll spend two nights at the locally rated 4-star NH The Lord Charles. This afternoon enjoy an included excursion historic Stellenbosch, second oldest town in South Africa, where the Dutch East India Company legacy shows in the architecture. B, D


Day 6 Stellenbosch

Wine tasting

Travel into the winelands for a tasting at the Neetlingshoff wine estate, dating back to 1705. You'll also visit Franschhoek, a small town founded by French Huguenots and famous as South Africa’s ‘wine and food capital’ B, L, D


Day 7 Somerset West-Albertinia

Game drive

Depart Somerset West, heading via Route 62 for Albertinia. This afternoon look forward to an included game drive. Stay tonight at the locally rated 4-star Garden Route Game Lodge which lies against a backdrop of the Langeberg mountains and at the start of the coastal Garden Route. B, L, D


Day 8 Albertinia-Oudtshoorn

Perhaps join an optional game drive. Depart for the ‘ostrich capital’ of Oudtshoorn via Route 62. Stay two nights at the locally rated 4-star Queens Hotel. B, D


Day 9 Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn

Visit the Cango Ostrich Farm and discover this famous home of the largest bird on earth. Explore the tunnels and vast caverns of Cango Caves, on a fairly strenuous excursion. B, L, D


Day 10 Plettenberg Bay

Stop for a cruise on Keurbooms River with a picnic lunch, taking in the nature reserve known for its bird life. Continue to Plettenberg Bay and stay two nights at the locally rated 4-star Whalesong Hotel & Hydro. B,L,D


Day 11 Tsitsikamma

Storms River

Visit Storms River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park, a conservation area of ancient forests, waterfalls and gorges, and enjoy outstanding views from the suspension bridge. B, L, D


Day 12 Tsitsikamma-Arniston

Depart for the seaside village of Arniston, stopping en route in Knynsa, a scenic town set beside a lagoon. Spend the next three nights at the locally rated 4-star Arniston Spa Hotel. B, D


Day 13 Cape Agulhas and Bredarsdorp

Cape Agulha

This morning enjoy a full day included tour of Cape Agulhas – Africa’s most southerly point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet and many ships have been wrecked. Find out more at the Shipwreck Museum in Bredarsdorp. B, D


Day 14 Arniston Bay

Today is at leisure to relax, or explore Arniston and the fishing village. B, D


Day 15 Arniston-Cape Town-UK

Return to Cape Town, along a scenic route as you head to the airport for your return overnight flight. B

Day 1 UK-Cape Town

Cape Town

After taking Saga's included UK door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly overnight to Cape Town.


Day 2 Cape Town

Cape Town

Arrive at Cape Town where you’ll stay for two nights at the locally rated 4-star Southern Sun, The Cullinan, situated within walking distance of the famous Victoria & Albert Waterfront. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa (extra charge). Each of the 394 air-conditioned bedrooms has a television, tea and coffee-making facilities, safe, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi. Dinner is included at a nearby restaurant. D


Day 3 Cape Town

Boulders Beach

Spend the day touring the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, Africa’s most south-westerly corner. While only a narrow finger of land, it's an area of beautiful bays, beaches, hills and valleys and fynbos. Within the Nature Reserve you may catch sight of zebra, antelope and baboons. Afterwrads, visit Boulders Beach where 2,500 African penguins await you, then historic Simons Town, home of the South African Navy, and steeped in naval history. B, L, D


Day 4 Cape Town-Somerset West

Stellenbosch

Depart for the town of Somerset West, which is overlooked by the Helderberg Mountains in the heart of the winelands. You'll stay two nights at the locally rated 4-star NH The Lord Charles... Facilities here include two restaurants, a bar, and a fitness centre. All 198 rooms have satellite television, a telephone, radio, tea and coffee-making facilities, safe, hairdryer and minibar (extra charge). This afternoon enjoy an included excursion to historic Stellenbosch, second oldest town in South Africa, where the Dutch East India Company legacy shows in the architecture. You can still see the Cape Dutch buildings in its centre, particularly in Dorp Street. Visit the museum and enjoy some free time here. B, D


Day 5 Stellenbosch

Wine tasting

Travel into the winelands for a tasting at the Neetlingshoff wine estate, dating back to 1705. You'll also visit Franschhoek, a small town founded by French Huguenots and famous as South Africa’s ‘wine and food capital’. Enjoy some free time exploring before returning to your hotel in Somerset West. B, L, D


Day 6 Somerset West-Albertinia

Game drive

Depart Somerset West, heading via Route 62 for the locally rated 3-star Garden Route Game Lodge, at the start of the coastal Garden Route, for an overnight stay. The lodge has its own private game reserve, restaurant, boma and poolside terrace, two swimming pools, and spa (charges apply). There are 34 air-conditioned rooms housed in both the main lodge and chalets, each with television, telephone, safe, tea and coffee-making facilities, and complimentary Wi-Fi. You’ll arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner at the hotel. B, L, D


Day 7 Albertinia-Oudtshoorn

Perhaps join an optional game drive. Depart for the ‘ostrich capital’ of Oudtshoorn. You’ll travel along the famous Route 62, through the longest wine route in the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape. Admire the magnificent landscapes of the Little Karoo valley set between two mountain ranges as you wind alongside vineyards and orchards, through farming towns and along mountain passes. You'll spend the next two nights at the locally rated 4-star Queens Hotel, the third oldest hotel in South Africa located in the heart of the 'feather capital’. An original colonial building dating from 1880 the hotel has 40 air-conditioned bedrooms with compact en suite facilities. There is a satellite television, telephone and tea/coffee-making facilities. B, L, D


Day 8 Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn

Visit the Cango Ostrich Farm and discover this famous home of the largest bird on earth. Afterwards, explore Cango Caves,  to admire the vast caverns – thought to extend over five kilometres – with their strange stalactite formations. It'sa fairly strenuous excursion, a one kilometre walk, with 416 steps, on a tour which lasts about one-and-a-half hours, so you will need comfortable shoes. B, L, D


Day 9 Plettenberg Bay

Transfer to Tsitsikamma National Park, a conservation area of ancient forests, waterfalls and gorges. En route, stop for lunch and a cruise on Keurbooms River. It flows along a scenic gorge through the Keurbooms River Nature Reserve – keep your eyes peeled for eagles, giant kingfishers, woodpeckers and various ducks and water birds. Continue to Plettenberg Bay where you stay two nights at the locally rated 4-star Whalesong Hotel & Hydro. Set in landscaped gardens the hotel has a restaurant with a sundeck, a craft gin bar, outdoor pool and outdoor cinema, as well as a spa (treatments at extra charge). All 24 guest rooms have a private viewing deck from which to enjoy the fabulous views . Rooms have a ceiling fan, television, safe and tea and coffee-making facilities. B, L, D


Day 10 Tsitsikamma

Storms River

Visit Storms River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park, a conservation area of ancient forests. Rivers have forced their way through the mountains to the sea here, creating spectacular gorges and waterfalls. Marvel at the incredible views from the suspension bridge that spans it. Lunch is included. This afternoon relax back at the hotel. B, L, D


Day 11 Tsitsikamma-Arniston

Depart for the seaside village of Arniston, stopping en route in Knynsa, a scenic town set beside a lagoon, for lunch. Spend the next three nights at the locally rated 4-star Arniston Spa Hotel. The hotel is next to an old fishing village, surrounded by pristine beaches and nature reserves. Bedrooms have a private balcony, satellite television, tea and coffee-making facilities and Wi-Fi access. Facilities include a restaurant, bistro, bar and large swimming pool. If you want to pamper yourself the hotel has a spa (treatments at extra cost). B, D


Day 12 Cape Agulhas and Bredarsdorp

Cape Agulha

Enjoy a full-day included tour of Cape Agulhas – Africa’s most southerly point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet and many ships have been wrecked. The British vessel Arniston, which gave the town its name, went down in 1815. Find out more at the Shipwreck Museum in Bredarsdorp. B, D


Day 13 Arniston-Cape Town

Return to Cape Town, along a scenic route as you head to the airport for your return overnight flight. B
