Blaauwberg Beach Hotel
Day 1 UK - Cape Town
After your VIP door-to-door travel service to the airport, enjoy an overnight flight to Cape Town.
Day 2 Cape Town
Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to the locally rated 4-star Blaauwberg Beach Hotel (4Q) 28 kilometres away.
Settle in and relax before taking an afternoon stroll along the Blaauwberg seafront to introduce yourself to the area. D
Day 3 Cape Town
After breakfast journey into central Cape Town, passing some of the sights, as you make your way to the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest building in the Cape, for a guided tour. Next, you’ll head to the Diamond Museum to learn of the history of their discovery in this country as well as of the gems themselves.
Weather permitting, perhaps take a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain (tickets not included) for a spectacular view over the Mother City as well as the Cape Flats. If the weather doesn’t permit, you’ll instead travel to Signal Hill where you can admire a similar view. After enjoying some of the best views of the city, you’ll be able to set off to enjoy the afternoon as you wish. B, D
Day 4 Bird hide walk
Just a short drive from your hotel is a birding oasis in the lowland wetlands. This morning, your guide will take you in search of the area’s feathered wildlife which includes glossy ibis, African spoonbill and pied kingfisher.
After this morning’s outing, the day is yours to take in the sea air and amazing views of Table Mountain or relax at your hotel. B, D
Day 5 At leisure
Today is the perfect opportunity to join one of the optional excursions to Durbanville Wine Estate or Kirstenbosch Gardens.
After dinner, there is a talk on the Battle of Blaauwberg, and how the Napoleonic wars influenced the Cape. B, D
Day 6 Tastes of the Cape
Get a true taste of the Cape with this morning’s visit to the Neighbourhoods Market in Woodstock, where local farmers, fine-food producers, bakers, grocers, fishmongers and butchers have stalls in this converted old brick warehouse. Take some time to browse the stalls here, perhaps enjoying a bite to eat to really make the most of the local produce on offer.
You’ll arrive back at the hotel at lunchtime so you can enjoy a leisurely afternoon. B, D
Day 7 At leisure
Join us on an optional excursion to Robben Island or enjoy the day as you please. B, D
Day 8 West Coast of the Cape tour
Head up to Mamre, settled two centuries ago by missionaries, then on to the gorgeous town of Darling, where you’ll stop for lunch. The picturesque and vibrant little town is home to Darling Olives, which you’ll visit and try some of the delicious oils and tasty morsels produced there.
Our scenic drive home through Bloubergstrand comes with a spectacular view of Table Mountain. B, D
Day 9 The Cape Winelands
You have the whole day to explore the Cape Winelands district. The morning will be spent at the glorious Babylonstoren show farm and formal gardens, full of beautiful landscaping with over 300 plant varieties.
You’ll then head to Franschhoek, known as the gourmet capital of South Africa, where you have the pick of the restaurants for lunch. After, there is a tour of Stellenbosch, ending the day with a wine tasting at Delheim Wine Estate. B, D
Day 10 At leisure
You have the day to yourself to enjoy. B, D
Day 11 Cape Point Tour
Today you’ll explore the Cape of Good Hope in pursuit of penguins! Take the spectacular and unmissable Chapman’s Peak coastal drive which hugs the base of the mountain before it dips into the ocean. Then head south to the furthest points of the peninsula, the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point where there’ll be more stunning views.
At lunchtime arrive at the historical Simon’s Town with its wonderful restaurants, then you’ll see the colony of African penguins at Boulders Beach. B, D
Day 12 - 15 At leisure
The rest of your holiday is at your leisure - a great opportunity to relax and make the most of the facilities at your hotel, or head out exploring independently. B, D
Day 16 Cape town - UK
After breakfast, travel to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK. B

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
South Africa’s flora and fauna is fascinating and the botanical gardens are home to 9,000 of South Africa's incredibly 22,000 floral species. These well-tended themed gardens are sure to amaze you even if you aren’t particularly green fingered.

In the late 17th century, Robben Island was fortified and used as a prison until 1996. May of its prisoners were political, and its most famous prisoner has to be Nelson Mandela, who spent 18 years of his 27-year imprisonment on the island. Today, the island is a fascinating place to explore and learn about this chapter of South Africa’s history.

There are plenty of ways to see the wonderful city of Cape Town, but perhaps the best view is from the top of Table Mountain by cable car. As a beach city, the harbours and marinas have much to offer and the V&A Waterfront is the pinnacle, with endless boardwalks of shops, cafes and bars.
As you’d expect from the city of this size, there is a huge choice of museums and galleries such as the District Six museum, the museum of contemporary African art and even the site of the first heart-transplant. From Cape Town you can see the Big Five with a day safari or head out on the water for whale watching.
