Travel by Eurostar from St Pancras to Marseilles, via Lille. Transfer to Martigues, where you will embark your ship, MS Mistral this afternoon for your all-inclusive cruise. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner on board as you remain moored here overnight.

MS Mistral departs very early this morning for Arles. After breakfast she’ll pause for a short while at Port-St-Louis to allow passengers to join an optional tour of Camargue. The ship continues to Arles, arriving around lunch time when excursion participants will rejoin her and she’ll moor overnight. This afternoon, join an included walking tour of Arles.

With its Mediterranean atmosphere and magnificent Roman and Romanesque architectural monuments, Arles will delight you. Visit the Les Arènes amphitheatre – at the end of the 1st century AD, the Roman theatre was one of the first stone-built theatres outside of Rome. The amphitheatre is also featured in a work by Vincent van Gogh and you will encounter the artist's influences in a number of other places on your way through Arles. You will also see the former cathedral, the Church of St Trophime, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Pretty Avignon

Depart early again this morning for Avignon, arriving during breakfast. This medieval city is known as the 'City of Popes', because it was once the centre of the Papal court. You moor here overnight, giving you plenty of time to go exploring and perhaps visit the famous Palais du Pape. You’ll also see the remaining half of Avignon’s renowned 12th-century bridge – subject of the French song, ‘Sur le pont d”Avignon’. Alternatively, you can join an optional walking tour.

24/10/2019 Avignon to Viviers


Set off early and spend the morning cruising to the lovely walled city of Viviers. After lunch on board you may like to join an optional tour. Alternatively, you can explore independently. Head to the cathedral in the centre of the old town, and wander through the narrow streets around it.

25/10/2019 Viviers to La Voulte to Tain L’Hermitage

La Voulte, France

This morning, an optional excursion heads out to the Ardèche Valley. MS Mistral will continue to La Voulte where she’ll moor over lunchtime, then continue to the town of Tain L’Hermitage for an overnight mooring. The town has a ‘twin’ town – Tournon – on the opposite bank, linked by a short bridge. Tain L’Hermitage’s main claim to fame is the ‘Cité du Chocolat’, Valrhona – a popular museum and chocolate shop!

26/10/2019 Tain L’Hermitage to Vienne to Lyon


Your ship sets off in the early hours and arrives in Vienne at breakfast time. An optional walking tour reveals the city, before you set off again for Lyon, arriving after lunch. Enjoy an included tour of guided tour of the Roman 'City of Light' –the culinary heart of France, and a centre for the silk trade in the 19th century. You'll view the ruins of the ancient theatre and odeon before reaching the Basilica of Notre-Dame, where you'll have time to capture the wonderful views.

Continue by coach downhill to the ‘Presqu’île’, the area between the Rhône and Saône rivers, where you'll find the two main squares – the Place Bellecour and the Place des Terreaux. Place Bellecour is one of the largest town squares in France, and you often see men playing pétanque here. After time for photographs, continue to Vieux-Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy a walking tour of its cobbled streets and hidden passages known as traboules.These narrow, covered alleyways that dissect the old city were used by the porters who carried the silk through the city. Your ship remains moored in Lyon overnight.

After breakfast, disembark MS Mistral and travel to Marseilles for your return Eurostar journey to the UK, via Lille.
