Krakow is the ancient Royal Capital of Poland, and as a result has an abundance of historic buildings and treasures, including the Renaissance-Gothic Wawel Castle, which is UNESCO-listed. Join an included tour of the city which includes a visit to the fabled Oskar Schindler's Factory of Enameled Vessels, which has been turned into a modern museum devoted to the experiences in Nazi-occupied Krakow during World War II.

Meissen's impressive castle

Set sail from Dresden late morning and cruise through the morning towards Meissen, arriving during lunch. This town is most famous for its porcelain, which you can learn more about on an optional excursion. Europe’s first white porcelain was produced in Dresden in 1708 meaning it no longer had to be imported from China at great expense. In 1710 the factory was moved to Meissen, where it was easier to protect the secret processes. Meissen also has a castle straight out of a fairy tale, a historic cathedral, and glorious views over the Elbe Valley.

Set off in the early hours from Meissen for a late afternoon and evening exploring Wittenberg, the town where, so the story goes, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church, setting in motion the Protestant Reformation. Find out more on an optional guided walk which visits the former monastery where Luther lived and the vast UNESCO-listed Market Square, with its bronze statue of Luther.
