This beautiful fjord extends for 179 kilometres from the North Sea as it travels inland, dividing into a series of smaller fjords. It is bordered by what is regarded as some of the country’s most beautiful landscape which includes the Folgefonna glacier – now a National Park. Sail past stately mountains sometimes tinged with snow, slopes covered in green forest and orchards, sparkling waters and even the occasional islet. Keep your camera to hand as you sail this famous waterway, often referred to as the ‘Queen’ of fjords.

The picturesque village of Eidfjord set within the breath-taking Hardangerfjord, is a gateway to some of the region's most spectacular natural features. Located beneath a back-drop of soaring, snow-peaked mountains, engraved with rivers and waterfalls, Eidfjord is a photographers dream. Two quaint churches, one dated back to 1309, are both worth exploring, while the cute Troll Train offers a 50-minute guided tour of this stunning region. From the train you can experience Eidfjord’s exquisite scenery and Hæreid, the largest Viking burial site from the Iron Age. Alternatively, visitors can head for the amazing Hardangervidda Nature Centre or the infamous Voringfossen Waterfall, a tumbling natural beauty set deep in the mountains of Måbødalen Valley.

Your approach to Bergen is absolutely beautiful, taking you past Svanøy Island and Jostedalsbreen glacier. In the city, which is listed as both a World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, you will find a host of fine museums, including the Hanseatic Museum, Bryggens Museum and Theta Museum giving insights into the history of both the city and Norway as a whole. For fantastic views of the city and surrounding fjords take the Fløibanen funicular, opened in 1918, to the 320 metre Fløyen, where you can enjoy a warming coffee and traditional snack in the café.
