Journey back in time to Ancient Greece
This voyage of ancient history reveals classical treasures such as the magnificent Acropolis, the evocative ruins of the Palace of Knossos and Valletta’s golden-hued Grand Harbour.
Delve into the world of Greek myths and legends on this 22-night cruise through the Mediterranean. Unearth the ancient roots of Greece with visits to fascinating archaeological sites such as the iconic Parthenon Temple on the Athenian Acropolis, UNESCO-listed Olympia – birthplace of the Olympic Games, and Knossos Palace with its 3000-year-old frescoes depicting Minoan culture. The sacred island of Delos, mythical birthplace of twins Apollo and Artemis, is a short boat ride from Mykonos. Another UNESCO World Heritage site, Delos overflows with antiquities from the Archaic, the Classical and the Hellenistic periods. Doric temples, an amphitheatre and the famous stone lions of Naxos are just a few of the incredible sights here.
With over 3000 islands Greece is best explored by ship, when you can truly appreciate the tiny coves, beautiful beaches and ocean carved cliffs that distinguish the coastline of each island. Admire the picture-perfect scenery of Mykonos with its landmark white-washed windmills, see the surreal rock formations of volcanic Milos and be sure to sample the tasty meze of the traditional kafeneia coffee houses of Heraklion, washed down with a glass of raki, the local punch-packing spirit – ya mas!
