It has a wonderful natural harbour, which makes this one of Iceland's primary fishing and trading centres. Keep your eyes on the sky as you sail past the cliffs at Hornstrandir, home to huge numbers of migratory birds including kittiwakes, fulmars, puffins and razorbills. Continue to Drangaskörd, one of Iceland’s most prominent landmarks. Have your camera ready as you approach the collection of dragon tail-like pinnacles rising from the sea and dominating the skyline.

Cruise the 60-kilometre long Eyjafjördur – the longest fjord in Iceland as you depart Akureyri, the perfect place to spot local wildlife including many species of birds and whales. As you depart Seydisfjördur, cruise the fjord of the same name taking in impressive views of huge mountains and thundering waterfalls. Continue past the three incredible pyramid-shaped mountains of Dalatangi, Akurfell and Toarfjall to Nipukollur, a mighty 1,958ft-high peak in Eastern Iceland. As you cruise along the east coast on your route home, take in views of the majestic Norðfjarðarhorn and Gerpir, the country’s easternmost point, boasting towering cliffs and rugged landscapes.
