It’s also the city where Joan of Arc was tried and burnt at the stake. The pretty town of Honfleur lies beside the mouth of the Seine where it flows into the Channel. Explore the picturesque old harbour – the Vieux Bassin – with its tall narrow buildings, as well as the cobbled streets and alleys. Within the town you’ll also find St Catherine’s Church – one of the largest wooden churches in France, and the Satie Museum dedicated to the composer. Honfleur also served as inspiration for many painters including Boudin, Monet and Dufy.
