Lerwick is the capital of the Shetland Islands, known for their fascinating Viking and archaeological heritage. Explore the waterfront with its restored Hay’s Dock – home to the Shetland Museum and Archives where you can learn about the area’s history, or stroll through the town with its tempting shops. To the south of the island lies Jarlshof – an ancient settlement spanning some 4,000 years with structures ranging from a Bronze Age village to a Norse longhouse.
