A mini cruise to County Cork
The charming waterfront towns of Cobh and Bantry, and their surrounding lush landscapes, epitomise the beauty of southern Ireland.
County Cork stretches across much of the southwest of Ireland and is blessed with an abundance of historic sights and phenomenal natural beauty. A cruise along the glorious coastline is a great way to appreciate the wealth of attractions this area has to offer, including the spectacular coastal scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way, which will be explored during an included scenic drive from Bantry Bay. A stop here also provides the opportunity to hop aboard a ferry from nearby Glengarriff to visit Garnish Island where you can follow numerous walking trails through flower-laden gardens.
Of course, the scenery is a major draw, but the towns and cities of this delightful region should not be overlooked. Ireland’s second city Cork spans the banks of the River Lee and is renowned for its foodie scene. Kinsale also has a reputation for its famous flavours, some of which you’ll have the opportunity to try for yourself on a culinary journey from Cobh. You’ll stop to taste whiskey in a cosy bar, enjoy lunch in a speciality seafood restaurant and be invited to sample locally produced delicacies, such as cheese, sausage and mead.
