Making the most of your days ashore
It has to be one of the main attraction's of cruising: the opportunity to see a wonderful array of destinations, while only having to unpack once. You’ll take your own floating hotel with you.
Booking an organised tour with the Saga team is packed with benefits. You won’t have the worry of arranging your own transport or exploring without a guide – making everything completely hassle free. We work hard to ensure that all offer great value for money too.
There’s a brand new way to experience each of our destinations... with the help of our on-board Explore Ashore concierge team. Available on all our cruises from 2019, they’ll give you a deeper sense of each city, with their detailed in-depth local knowledge.
While we have a varied programme of shore excursions, each insightful and fascinating in their own right, the Explore Ashore team pride themselves on helping you make your visit even more personal. That could be securing the best table in an impossible-to-book restaurant for your anniversary meal. Or a personal introduction to the owner of an impressive castle, who might enable you to discover secrets most tourists never see. It's about tailoring your cruise experience to be exactly how you want it.
Our inspiring excursion programme
From outstanding natural wonders and historic cities to ancient ruins and beautiful gardens, our standard shore excursion programme has been designed to suit a variety of tastes. We try to combine active excursions such as trekking, with less strenuous museum visits or city tours, and at most ports we also include a panoramic coach tour so you can see the sights while you sit back and relax.
How to book
We'll post or email a Shore Excursion Booklet a few weeks before you sail, so you can read about the excursions available during your cruise. Many guests like to book them in advance, especially as some popular tours can sell out.
To help you choose the most suitable excursions for you, we give each one a brief description and a walking grade based on the amount of walking, steps or type of terrain involved.
And once you're on board, the team are always on hand to help with your bookings or any other questions about the content of your chosen tours.
