3rd April, 2019
The day just finished and I can finally take a minute break to tell you about how the usual day on board looks like for me. It was quite a long and tiring Wednesday but still exciting and full of unforgettable moments in Motril.
I started my day at 8:30am to get ready to shoot gangway at 9am. When I’m on gangway I try to find a nice background for people to have in the photo, majority of the time I use the ship as a background. After shooting gangway I then went onto the magnificent Alhambra tour, it was amazing.
The first stop we made was about an hour away from the port at a restaurant called Ruta Del Veleta where we then went on to have a 3 course meal. The starter was this amazing salad with the vegetables cut into unique patterns with some fruit on the side. Due to me being a vegetarian I asked the waiter if I could get the vegetarian option for the main meal and he wasn’t sure what to make so I said surprise me; he then brought out an asparagus casserole, the desert was a special receipt that you could only get in Motril. Was nice to try something different.
From the restaurant we then drove 10 minutes down the road to the Alhambra. Once we pulled up the guide handed out little radios with headphones and she would be talking to us through them as we go round the Alhambra. Alhambra is full of world heritage sites including a beautiful marble water feature called the Court of lions. It was very interesting going around seeing all the different buildings and gardens how they keep everything in such good condition. The detail of the architecture was amazing so much detail on the walls all integrated even on the ceiling. We went into one section of the Alhambra and there was a multi coloured Stain glass ceiling, when the sun shines though it creates the colour reflections like a rainbow on the patterned walls created something different/interesting to look at. The Arabic architecture is very distinctive and beautiful the views from the palace over the town below were breath-taking.
After looking around Alhambra, the palaces and around the gardens it was time to head back to my home away from home.
